The subject pretty much says it all. What do you think about the chances of seeing sequels to Genma Onimusha and Silent Hill 2: Restless Dreams on the Xbox? Was it a one shot deal? I would really like to wait if ports are coming, especially since Fatal Frame is coming to tide me over.
Well, Its possible, since both Capcom and Konami well known for their multiple ports of games. So I think there will be a version of Oni 2 coming to Xbox in some future.
The question is? Are you willing to wait 6 months or more for it? I dont :) So I will be getting PS2 version at the end of this month.
I would say it's almost for sure that they will come to Xbox. It's especially likely for Onimusha 2 since Capcom is known for releasing games on several formats.

As for some sort of "Genma Onimusha 2" upgrade on the Xbox or GC, Inafune and company are keeping an open mind. "We got feedback that Onimusha was too short and easy. If we get the same response from Onimusha 2, then we'll consider an upgrade version later on. I just can't say whether it'll be for Xbox or GC."
The "we'll consider it later" part pretty much nixes any idea that it's already in the works. And quite frankly, I'd be shocked if they did it for the Xbox again considering GC's ahead of it on both sides of the atlantic, it didn't sell mindnumbingly well the first time on Xbox, and survival horror games on the Cube have done very well over here. But obviously, that's just conjecture on my part.
As for Silent Hill 3, Konami's Xbox support seems tepid at best - MGS2'll make 2 games, with no others announced. Certainly not impossible, but I don't think MS would want it badly enough to give Konami a sweetheart deal to port it over (unless just to say they have Konami's continued support). In other words if you've got a PS2, there's not much reason to hold your breath.
I know it's hard to get reliable North American numbers, and I'm not exactly in the loop on these things, but I coulda sworn the Xbox was outselling the Cube in this market.Quote:

err, Xbox consistently outsells Gamecube in America. Genma Onimusha didn't sell too well as it's a year old port and Silent Hill 2 didn't sell very well on PS2 either. Considering Genma Onimusha is already on Xbox, i'd be very surprised if GCN got the sequel.
I too am hoping for SH3 on Xbox as the joypad is better suited (having the back button next to the left stick is a godsend) and I can't be arsed to buy another PS2 memory card.
I think it's definitely a good possibility, but we wont hear anything about it either way until a good while after the originals ship.

It could certainly seem that way. The truth is that once I have the Xbox, I am sure as hell going to justify having it. Horror games are some of the few where graphics really do make a difference, so they might as well be on the Xbox.Quote:

Plus that what the hell does Nintendo have after RE0, Starfox, F-zero GC and Kameo anyways? Not a whole lot. Capcom seems to be the only consistent third party developer in Nintendo's corner at this point and with Rare all but abandoning them, Nintendo really doesn't have much to stand on expect Gameboy and Pokemon sales.
Sales will likely go through the roof once the Nintendo Three hit the states (or not), but after that feeding frenzy dissapates then what? We'll talk a year from now.

As great as those games all seem to be, the only game in there that has the most name brand recognition is DOA and to a lessor extent Panzer and Toe Jam&Earl.Quote:

Mario, Metroid, Zelda, Resident Evil and even Starfox have more name recognition than the ones you listed. Nintendo is probably banking on those system sellers to sell heavily while Microsoft is getting on by and building up their first party games and exclusives/time exclusives(Splinter Cell, MGS2:Substance, DTR).
This sort of brings me back to Zidane's thread about Nintendo running dry of stuff develop. Nintendo wants to get these big name hits out of the way to get to the new stuff hopefully and don't forget the GBA stuff, because it's a system too! :D
I am almost sure that I am going to try to wait for an Xbox port of Onimusha 2. Silent Hill 3 may be tougher if nothing is announced before the US release.
We see how well name recognition worked for SMS in japan...
I doubt in this next gen, post-GTA3 era, Mario and Co have quite the same pull they used to.
I don't see why they shouldn't, it's the only reason Gamecube owners have kept the system for this long aside from RE, Eternal Darkess and other nuggets.

Awhile back I remember Yoshi posting about a strange occurance happening while he was playing Mario Sunshine. In a nutshell he suddenly lost interest and began playing Jax and Daxter and found that he liked the "flavor" of J&D better. My guess is that he woke up and realized he was playing nothing more than a suped-up version of Mario64 with a water hose.
For their sake I hope you're right, but I seriously doubt it. Still waiting for that Kid Icarus sequel. When's Kirby gonna hit the GC in his own game? Is an original Fire Emblem title coming stateside? What about a GC Mother/Earthbound title? What happens to Donkey Kong after RARE jumps ship? See what I mean? Way too many unaswered questions.Quote:

DOA 4 will sell. Possibly XBV, too. The others are not garunteed sellers. Nothing on your list will outsell Mario or Zelda. And I really want to know why people think Orta will sell Xboxes (besides to some of the holdouts on this board, remember people: WE AREN'T MAINSTREAM). I never said these were new games. The point of my post was that recently Nintendo has been relying way too much on sure-fire sellers instead of encouraging third party support. Especially since they've delayed these games all to hell. This strategy didn't help with the N64 and it's not helping now. Think about it. Is there anything but exclusive Nintendo properties besides Resident Evil that anyone cares about on this system?Quote:

Skies of Arcadia Legend will proably sell a decent amount, but it's sequel is PS2 bound. Harmony of Dissonance is a GBA title and FF: Crystal Chronicles? Blah.

Nintendo hasn't been as experimental as Sega so fewer risks are involved while still being able to innovate using thier established franchises. I see your analogy but they are trying to give us something more than Mario. It's refreshing yet odd to see them 'lend' out Starfox and F-Zero to 3rd parties to see what they do with them.

Well the new stuff is coming in. Although I can't say I'm interested in all of them but so far Pikmin is out, Golden Sun is a new franchise, Advance Wars, Animal Leader, Animal Crossing(forgive me if they are the same), and Doshin along with Kameo and other stuff Rare hasn't unveiled. I wouldn't worry too much about them I can see them staying afloat with the reliable 'go to guy' game title while trying to introduce fresh games.Quote:

in all honesty im really dissapointed in Nintendo, i was hoping for some sort of Nintendo revival with the GC, 3rd party support, awesome sequels to old school games, no delays, alot of announcements, etc...
its like they are giving up and making the money they can, while they can.
