What are your 3 favorite console RPGs in each era?
If you're not familiar enough with an era's RPGs than skip it.

Mine are:

8-bit

1. Phantasy Star
2. Final Fantasy
3. Miracle Warriors

I respect the Dragon Warrior series but I just couldn't get into them.

16-bit

1. Chrono Trigger
2. Final Fantasy III
3. Phantasy Star IV

Major props to the Lunar series as well.

32-bit

1. Xenogears
2. Panzer Dragoon Saga
3. Final Fantasy VII

I have yet to play much of FFIX or Suikoden 2 yet though and they look impressive.

I'm skipping the 8-bit era, because I think the only "RPG" I've played from that era was Dragon Warrior.

Yep. There was a thread about it a week ago where I listed the reasons why I like it so much.

8 bit: Dragon Warrior, Final Fantasy, Destiny of an Emperor

16 bit: Final Fantasy II, 7th Saga, Chrono Trigger

32 bit: Suikoden II, Final Fantasy IX, The Legend of Dragoon

Champion of all RPGs : Wasteland.

although that isn`t a console RPG, so that kind of defies the point!

8 bit- Final Fantasy Legend 2, Link's Awakening . . .

16 bit- REJOICE!, Chrono Trigger . . .

32 bit- Suikoden, Suikoden 2 . . .

Ah, Wasteland was indeed a great game.

That opens up a whole list of great 8-bit computer RPGs: Ultima, the Bard's Tale, Wizardry...without which, oddly enough, we would have no Japanese RPGs, which is why I think it odd when people slag Western-developed games.

BTW, great to see you on TNL dcharlie! I wonder which TFP member will be the next to make a guest appearance here...
