Yep. Best news I've heard in a while.
Well, I'll be damned... :)
I'll bet "R'duo" was still "looking for some sailors" somewhere. The guy was probably pretty hard to find.
*slaps self*

The new OXBM demo disc is where I learned it from. :confused:Quote:

I can't wait. Looks like it may have been a good move after all to cancel the DC version. Now we get the game without any concessions made to it.
Glad to hear it. Maybe retaining the original VAs will become the norm. But I don't see how pissing off those DC hardcore who were potential XBOX purchasers was a good move for either SEGA or Microsoft.
Well, that's some good news. And this is one of the funniest threads ever, especially while being read at seven in the morning. Er, I mean.
Yeah -- all twelve of them.Quote:

"I see" ;)
Yippee! We'd be getting ready for Shenmue III if not for that crock Sega and MS cooked up... Been there and done that on II.
I am going to own all of you at QTE Title, assuming there are online rankings like in Shenmue I.
I still haven't opened my DC version of the game
best game of the year... hands down...
*hugs his DC*
Where'd you see them from? :idea:Quote:

No one told your stupid ass to import it. Normal people waited, why couldn't you?Quote:

That would be a significant spike in Xbox sales though. :pQuote:

No complaints here... I wonder who's responsible for the decision so I can give them a hearty pat-on-the-back.
I thought the original voice acting kind of sucked. I enjoyed the subtitles in DC Shenmue 2 but I guess most people cringe at subtitles.
subtitles or dubbing NeoZeed?
I'm confused by your question. I said I prefer subtitles but I understand that the general population prefers dubbing.
Why should he have when he could play it on DC first? I also imported it and played through this game almost a year ago. If I do get the Xbox version, it'll be after it drops in price.Quote:

NeoZeed, you said most people cringe at subtitles. I was wondering if you meant most people cringe at dubs. Which I abso-certainly do.
I would get the XB version for the dubs alone, regardless of other enhancements. And I saw them on GameSpot, Freeter.
You mean instead of waiting for the better, localized version? Oh yea, that's right, some of you actually prefer to pay good money on inferior versions of games, and pass on the good ones. Silly me... :rolleyes:Quote:

... i don't see how anyone could prefer the terrible voice acting found in Shenmue 1... i mean, it did have a certain charm, but i felt that it definately detracted from the game as a whole...
but eh, to each his own...
You miss too much visually when you have to read the bottom of the screen.Quote:

I imported it, I finished it, and it'll be the first Xbox game ever that I actually bought on release date. It's certainly good enough to own 2 copies of, and the voice acting, which I loved from the original Shenmue, is more than enough reason for me to play it through again.
I also don't see how you can ignore capital letters, correct spelling and periods so often, but I guess it does have a certain charm. I feel that it definitely detracts from your posts as a whole.Quote:

LOL... Stibbons never ceases to make me laugh!
Shenmue II may well have been the Dreamcast's greatest game. Woe to those who've had to spend the last year not yet being truly alive.
Do you own every game ported to Xbox from other systems? I think not. :rolleyes:Quote:

The DC version has English subtitles and I hate dubs, so that's great for me. The manual and box are in English as well. How exactly would a localization make a big difference?
What changes exactly were made that would make me go though the entire game all over again, just because it's on Xbox? Did they add a new city? New chapters not found in the DC version? Tons of new extras? If so, then the game does merit a replay upon release. If not, it can wait until it reaches $29.99.
I loved the voices from Shenmue 1, they were funny as hell and fit at the same time. It's cool news, great to see they kept them in.

Wait a minute, I thought we were talkin' about the original Japanese VAs being retained for this port. Do you mean the original English cast from Shenmue I instead?
That's what I assumed. NeoZeed is right. The causal gaming public (the target audience of every game that's hoping to sell these days) does not like subtitles. If you want proof, people cringe when I tell them that my girlfriend and I watch everything on TV in closed captioning. If the average gaming joe perferred subs over dubs, we'd be seeing a lot more subbed games, wouldn't we?Quote:
