Anyone have link to places that have video of this cool gmae in action?
I know there's like 5 on the hitmaker website from Conflict Alliance, but its in that weird aasx format, so my video goes 2 seconds, freezes, but the music plays just fine.

I have found little info on this game anywhere. Perhaps Tain can help out...
What info are you looking for? Just the general info or what?
http://www.hitmaker.co.jp -> Game - >VO:Force then from there they have pics and info (in japanese) but some of the VR designs kick much ass.
http://vofan.virtualon.net also has some useful info on force if you'd care to look around.
Those are some slick mech designs!
Hmmm...while I'm here. Is there a VO:OT controller for the DC?
By VO:OT controller do you mean Twinsticks? If so, then yes, there were alimited ammount of DC Twinsticks released out into the world, I'd love to own some, but I have to deal with the DC pad and my Saturn Twinsticks w/ convertor, but I prefer the controller to the sticks anyawy :D

My thoughts on the pad: It works. I played for quite some time on the pad. But the 'Sticks own it. It took me a while to get used to them (crouching turbo attacks, mainly), but they work like a charm. Especially as Dordray.
Indeed.Quote:

Anyway, I have some videos of Force matches from the latest version of the game (7.7) lying around on my HD. They aren't easy to come by, so if I could find a place to upload them, and didn't feel lazy (56k connection, here), I would. They're around 30 megs each.
So...motivate your-damn-self! :D
Tain - and how did you get them? if you d/l'ed them, how long did it take you?
NGEFreek: Remember that FTP server I linked you to in #VirtualOn? That's the place. It seems down right now, but I'll ask Johns if I can upload them somewhere. I doubt he'd mind. Actually, I'll consider compressing them into DivX, first. They took me ages to download. I'm not sure exactly how long, but I needed to leave my PC on all day and night.
I see, well if you get em uploaded, let me know, I'd really like to see just how fast or slow the gameplay is since I've been getting mixed opinions.
Oh, and if I saw when Guarayahka did her Jaguarandi special, I think I'd cream myself
ngefreek- what converter are you using? i bought the inovation one about six month ago, and couldn't get my sat sticks to work with my dc...is there a certain brand convertor i need...is there a special menu option for it?...is it available on the us version of voot?Quote:

Innovation!?!? *shudders* Thats like THE worst convertor out there. I'm using a clear blue 4-in-1 (I'll have to go check the name for you) that I got from Level six, works like a dream, but it doesnt convert the start button to special so I can't do stuff like Fei-yen's manual hyper, Raiden's armor break, etc.
Is that why you like the pad more? It would suck trying to play as Bal like that.Quote:

Anyway, it's all about the Total Control 3. Set the switch to "Twinstick" mode, and it'll map the normal Start button to a button placed on the converter. Then, the Start button on the sticks now acts as "special", while the converter's Start button pauses.
Where do I get a "Total Control 3?"
Doesn't NCSX have 'em?
NCSX should have Total Control 3 convertors instock, now finding an official Sega Link cable........
I suppose I'm lucky. It seems some people say that the unofficial Dragoncast link cable DOESN'T work with VOOT.Quote:

Well, it works fine for me. You can send it back, if it doesn't work...
Thanks, guys! :D
But first I need me a twinstick controller...which will be a bitch to find.
Saturn Twinsticks = easy to find, but shipping from japan will kill you. toysnjoys.com has em for $59.95 I think.
DC Twinsticks = Godly, not nearly as easy to find, usually will run you around $100, toysnjoys.com has the model 2 (I think) DC Twinsticks in stock for $99.95
I got a pair of DC twinsticks from T-Game in L.A., a little import shop on the westside. Perhaps my single greatest purchase, since playing VO:OT with them is an absolute DREAM. I don't if they have any more (I bought mine upon the import release), but they're on odd bunch and may be able to track a pair down. Oh yeah, their English was incomprehensible to me, so good luck if you're going to try and call them.
I'll also check another source for you guys who are interested in the official DC twinsticks. Don't hold your breath...
By the way, I will become an instant fanboy for the console that receives a home conversion of VO:Force. Come on, Hitmaker!!
I think Virtual On Force would be happiest on the Cube...but that's just me.
And thanks for the twinstick info! :D
I wouldn't mind it on Cube either, but after seeing videos of it, I think Xobx has the umph to push it, and i dunno if cube could, but thats just me.
On a side note: SEGA, where's my Planet Harriers port!?
You could be right. I haven't seen vids of it yet...
Give 'em time. I'm going to say that it's safe to assume that Hitmaker wants to wait until the final version of Force is released. Currently, it's already gone through three versions in the arcades; 7.5, 7.6, and 7.7.Quote:

...Anyway, I have some semi-official "news" about Force on a console... Well, not really, but it's kinda close. It goes something like this:
- Someone named "Quad" starts coding Netplay Extensions for US VOOT. Yes, he plans on giving US VOOT nice TCP/IP Netplay. Here's the site: http://voot.sf.net. Anyway, he happens to do some other things, in the process. He releases debug pictures of all kinds of weird things, like playing as Bratdos on the Floating Carrier (you can download a replay of this!), and loading custom colors in US Single Player.
- Hitmaker knows about what he's doing. And they don't seem to care. "They" (I'm not positive of who, exactly) told him not to use the Dricas netplay drivers. That's it. They're fine with what he's doing.
- Checking his referrer logs, Quad finds that people have been linked to his site(s) from a certain URL... An internal Hitmaker Forum URL that happens to end in "/VO4PS2/". Of course, no-one outside of Hitmaker can view it. This would go hand-in-hand with various PS2 announcement rumors.
...That's about as official as I can get, sadly.
The thread at VirtualOn.net that contains this:
http://www.virtualon.net/BBS/read.php?f=1&i=864&t=843
I was going to bring up the VO4PS2 stttuff, but since I didn't know specifics, I let Tain do it ^_^
Cool! Thanks for the rumors. :D
I really hope they'll either release it on the X-Box, or on all the consoles.
I cannot live with only a PS2 version of Force. VF4 only on PS2? Eh, okay. Force? NO.
...Oh, and here's another tidbit of coolness. First, the game uses a card system, like VF4. You buy a card, and it keeps track of your rank, and how you play. When you're finished with the card, however, you can turn it into an AI card. The AI card will can then be used as a computer-controlled VR partner that plays based on what was recorded onto the card before it was "expired". Something like VF4's AI system, but not quite. Still, it's an awesome idea.
So techincally you dont need a partner, you cn just load the AI off your card so its like 2 yous playing when only one of you is truly there?
Also, does VOOT learn from you? I swear it does, its started doing stuff recently that I've never seen the computer do before.
Well, the AI won't be near perfect, obviously, but it will probably resemble your playing style in one way or another.Quote:

I'm pretty sure it doesn't. I could be wrong, but I doubt it learns.Quote:

...That said, I remember reading that VOOM's Stage 1 Temjin actually learns. I'm not sure if that's true or not, though. Heh, probably yet another omission in the horrid Saturn port.
Tain, if you still need a place to upload those VO:Force vids, shoot me an e-mail and I can set you up.
Hmmm...2 analogue sticks, 2 trigger (L & R) buttons? A PS2 port doesn't sound all that bad. Besides, it means somebody in Japan'll actually get to play it...
Since Sega's internal departments basically get to choose what they develop for these days, I have a feeling that once the 11 game deal with MS is up, you're mostly just going to see ports from the Xbox arcade hardware from Sega. As a developer, you still have to justify your existence, and it's alot easier to do so when you sell more than 15 000 copies.
I've been asking that for far too long... I'm rather losing hope that it might end up coming anywhere, which pisses me off.Quote:

About VOOT netplay: I need a DC broadband adapter, but once that's up and running and I've got one, I'l gladly face anyone in some VOOT. I'll get spanked like a little girl, but I need some damn competition, just having the 'puter annoys me, as does split-screen.
Yeah, true enough. But since I'd buy Twinsticks either way, I'd rather see a GC or 'Box port. Hell, I'd easily buy a GC for the game. Call me uptight, but I want to see the best port possible. And if they hire the same team who ported VOOM, hell will rise. ...Thankfully, there isn't much of a chance that'll happen.Quote:

Oh, and I think it'd be much, much better to use the PSX D-Pad and shape buttons instead of the two analog sticks. I just feel it'd be easier to control, that way.
Actually, Netplay WILL work with the Coders' Cable, which, for $30 (at Lik-Sang), is a cheaper solution than the BBA. It's simply a cable that connects the PC and DC via serial port.Quote:

I realize the button layout is different, but I tried this on the Saturn pad and found it to be one of the horrid control schemes in any game. However, I still feel the PS2 analog stick locations make for the perfect mini-Twinsticks.Quote:

Cool, I had no clue what a Coder's Cable was, perhaps I'll check that out.Quote:

Well, I think the main reason would be the fact that you need to move your right thumb off of the right "stick" to push a dash button. Well, if it were to go to the PS2, the least they could do would be to give an option between the two.Quote:

Well, isn't there only two buttons for each side (attack and dash)? And the PS2 has four shoulder buttons, so that works out fine (index and middle on the shoulders). Or am I misunderstanding you?Quote:

Tain and NGEFreek- thanks for all the info guys...
Erm, sorry. Seems you're misunderstanding me. I was talking about the Saturn setup. With it, in order to dash, you had to push C or Z.Quote:

Videodrone - no problemmo, I love to spread the word or the VR ^_^
Ah, okay. Actually, my problem was coordinating the two areas together to just move the mech around properly. It was far more difficult then it should've been and was just a pain in the ass.Quote:

Even better, you could use the analogue's "push in" buttons in place of the special button. I don't know if it registers if you're pushing in and a direction at the same time - if so, they'd make great dash buttons.
If you mean the PS2 controller, they don't.Quote:

I'd like to see this on the Xbox as well for selfish reasons, but also because it could be a perfect port, while on the PS2 I'm doubtfull. And Murakumo sold well in Japan apparently so it should sell more than a dozen copies. It'd sell better on the PS2 sure... so why not both? Heck, why not all 3 and let people choose? It's essentially a port already so why not port it all the way?
AHHH! ncsx is sold out of tc3's!!! anyone know where else i can get one?
A friend of mine brought up the click-in analogue idea, some time ago. It would work, but I really think quick-stepping would take some time to get used to.
The game IS based on the Hikaru board, which, as far as I know, is "1.5 times stronger than the Naomi". I think the GameCube and X-Box could handle it effortlessly, and the PS2 port wouldn't lose too much. The game seems much more dependant on lighting and polygons than it does texturing.
