If I wasn't such an anti-intentional-pain person, I'd probably do it myself.

I think one reason for scarring and tatting is that you don't want your skin to leave the world in the same state it arrived. They're not just a tough-guy thing, although that's become more in vogue (and I don't count you among these, phoenix). Lots of people do them for spiritual/higher consciousness purposes. It's not just about branding and exhibition - it goes way deeper than merely the surface of the skin.

I suggest getting mental help, before you start cutting your limbs off and slicing your dick in half.

I could never decide on just one image... keep changing my mind and also I have this weird thing where sometimes my scar tissue over developes and I'm left with little dots. very weird. I have one on my back (chicken pox) and one on my leg (bug bite) So if I did get a tattoo or piercing it might just become one big gross bump. :)

- "Why, that's a tattoo of a kobun I got on my arm when I was a kid....what the hell was I thinking?"




I know a guy who has both a John Talbin tattoo on his calf, and Jin Kazama from Tekken 3's tattoo on his arm, and they are both the lamest things I have ever seen.



Getting a tattoo, as well as getting any part of your body pierced is one of those things I will never understand.

On a different note...

In Japan, a lot of the younger Japanese are into tattoos and just as many are skeptical because they typically are associated with the Yakuza. Some public places, like Saunas, baths and some gyms will forbid anyone who has any kind of tattoo from entering. Yes, that means even something like Winnie the Pooh will have you looked at as a gangster. Generally, the Yakuza have full-back pieces in the "trditional" style-with a dragon of some sort or maybe a dragon on one of their hands.

Actually, if your not always out tanning, and take good care of your skin tatoos can look good for the rest of your life (including "grandpa age").

And on the topic of the kobun tat, its going to be small enough that it will just kinda blend in with the rest of the tats on my sleeve anyway :)

I got my first tatt in May and it's something I really believe in, it's the Japanese character for truth & honor and I do plan on getting more...but I'm not about to get any ol' thing inked on my body. And for those of you that are wondering it hurts WAY less then you think, I saw this other kid in the studio getting a tatt in the same place that I got mine and he was yelling and bitching and that get me VERY nervous but then the guy did the first line and I just started laughing. I'm talking ZERO pain, the worst it hurt was 3 days after when it felt like a real hot sunburn but that quickly passed and I couldn't be happier with the results...
