That's funny. I remember lots of zombies, dark atmospheres, creepy settings, and messing with lighting and noises in Doom. Interesting as that's exactly what Doom 3 has shown so far.
When I think of Doom, I think of demons, and big spider things and monsters....not...fat zombies and bad Alien's rip-offs.

Zombies were the majority of enemies early on in all the Dooms (except for one of the WADs in Final Doom), and that largish creature eating could very easily be the redesigned Demons (the pink pig-like creatures). If you think they were going to show off all the enemies to the public in the version 0.05 build, you're crazy.Quote:

TracerBullet: Currently it just seems to be scarier. If they start adding in tons of puzzle elements I'd probably be miffed, but we'll see how it works out. No one's said anything about it being more "thought-inducing," just that it's slower and more atmospheric.
On a Doom related note, I downloaded Doom (original) for NUON yesterday. Bad slowdown and I'm having some control issues, but dang, the NUON platform has potential. (you can even download the dev tools!).

ehh FPS's designed for the PC in mind need to be played on the PC
games like Unreal, Doom, Half Life, etc all need to be played with a keyboard mouse
hell Halo would be alot better if it had a keyboard mouse
only FPS's designed with a console in mind do i like on consoles
games like Golden Eye, Agent Under Fire, the First Turok etc etc
and it really is a shame what was done to halo
they dumbed it down and watered it down soo much to make it work on a console
they should have just let them finish the mac and PC versions first

I tracked the development of Halo from its announcement to... whatever... and I think it was gonna slip into development hell... you know, the same place where Freelancer, TF2, and Duke Nukem Forever are at now. But who knows, who cares, Halo was good, Bungie made their decisions they seemed to be happy about it, whatever.
Anyway... if you ask me Doom III is just doing what id prolly wanted to do all along, but couldn't because of technology. Its massively impressive and cool its coming out on Xbox... but Ill get the PC version if I still give games a second glance by then, which Im still unsure about.
