While I am not a rabid FPS fan, I still like them here and there and if Doom III is half as good as everyone wants it to be, then more power to it.
I hope the weapons are done well and aren't too sci fi.
ohh please i followed Halo's developement too and it would have been 10000x better the game it would have been
and yes Ethugg the PC is a great place for gaming specially FPS's nothing compares to the accuracy of a mouse for a FPS if you think analog sticks do then your just kidding yourself
any one who thinks Halo is better for being on the XBox over the PC and Mac (where it would have had HUGE sales) is just deluding themselfs
Halo for Xbox didn't have HUGE sales? :p Anyway, it came out on Xbox, it's an excellent game, it's coming to PC, it will be an excellent game, it's coming to Mac, it will be an excellent game. There's no problem here.
i didnt say it didnt have huge sales some else earlier said something about it not doing well on PC or Mac
Thankfully JohnPV knows a lot about how Halo used to be. Hell, I remember when it was Mac only.

it's an excellent game,
EThugg..umm..yes, needs to be kicked in the dong. Hes on the border line of stupidity, but more in ignorance right now.
Um, I know it's called Unreal "Championship" but when I mentioned Unreal Tournament and Doom, I meant as a franchise, not as specific games. If I said Doom, then you should've corrected me and said "Doom III you moron." And I'm not asking you to say that. :)Quote:

On another note, I can't wait to try out UT2003. And (not that I'm actually gonna play it but) Doom 3 better have some good control schemes or else it'll fall into the pit of console FPS doom. (pun not intended)
From some screenshots at GA, though, I'm guessing the final game that comes out won't be have as high a polygon count as the initial E3 screens showed. So I think the PC and Xbox versions may be a little less impressive than they originall were...
Games designed to play on the horrid resolution of a standard television generally look pretty good. Games that were designed to be played on the potentially very high resolution of a PC monitor usually look painful on a TV. Morrowind for example.Quote:

Big TV's generally help with the immersion factor. Sound. John Carmack said Doom III will feature real-time 5.1 surround. On PC this ammounts to headphones. On Xbox this generally means home enterianment speaker set-up. I'll take Xbox.
For less than $80 you can get a Turtle Beach Santa Cruz that supports a 5.1 speaker setup and some 5.1 speakers are available for about $100. Awesome ones will cost you nearly five times that. A decent home theater will cost many, many, many times the price of a cutting edge PC. I refuse to accept any comparisons of console/PC gaming value without the inclusion of a home theater because the screen, sound and atmosphere IS part of the experience.
And with my cordless keyboard and mouse I can sit in my Lazyboy and play games. :D
Yeah or something.
