Nfl2k3!

Well if you want to bash the game, you've got your own topic to do it, but this topic is for those of us who actually like the game. So let's get things started...

I'm loving the presentation so far, the ESPN licence really goes a mile in making 2K3 stand out, as opposed to the very generic presentation of it's predecessors. It really sucks that ESPN isn't supporting it much theirselves, hell there's a Madden article on ESPN.com without even a mention of the game bearing their namesake :(

Anyway, I'm finding the game a lot more challenging than past games in the series (though each has got progressivly tougher). This time it really is an accomplishment to make a good run or a good pass (no more single-pass TDs every offensive :lol: ). I'm finding the commentary extremely similar to the past games though. I'll be interested when (assuming they do) Sega adds the ESPN talent to the commentary. And about the graphics, the graphics themselves are fine, but oh the animation. The wonderful, wonderful animation! Wow, the collisions are just amazing, a poetry of code it is.

So let's hear some GOOD thoughts about the game! Come on, anything!

I've loved every installment in the NFL2k series. I'm sure Sega and Visual Concepts won't disappoint me, with their latest offerings. If NFL2k3 has the best online option for the PS2, I'm going to buy it.


Is Madden going to be a pay to play online game?

I love this game.

I have alwasy loved the animation in VC's sports game its jsu so fluid. Guess imma have to go pick up NFL 2K3 tomorrow. Now all i need is NBA 2K3 and I will be in heaven.

NFL2K3 supports up to 4 players online, while Madden only supports 2, Vet. And no, Madden isn't pay to play, but they're probably going to be next year.

I have 2k3. I hate how it plays. So I bought Madden and it feels better. I know I'm off topic but oh well. 2k3 does have the coolest damn presentation EVER in any football game. I give it that. :D I also HATE HATE HATE selecting plays in the game. Why do they continue to use that method?

The game looks pretty cool, but I am content with 2K2 for DC for now.

I like play calling in the 2K series MUCH more, though the guy that gives you tips on plays is cool in Madden.

Because it's realistic. 2K3 uses every single formation and play a team used last season. If not having that is your idea of a good playcalling scheme, and if you don't understand football enough to call seperate coverages, then maybe NFL Blitz is more your thing...

Strider you missunderstood what I meant. Its not the plays themselves I hate its the GAY interface to select them.

My only qualm about football games is time management. When it comes to sports games, I prefer super-realism. I fuss over stuff like high rebounding rates in NBA2k2 and such. It has always bothered me how the computer gets plays off in 12-15 seconds when they usually take at least 30-35 seconds of the play clock.

The only problem with that, amerlop, is that a game with 5 minute quarters would only have 35 plays run.

I've rented the game today, and I must say, it is a huge improvement upon the already great NFL2k series.


The only negative I have for the game, is in the selecting a player on defence, before the snap. With the DC, you could use the D-Pad to shuffle around the players, but with the PS2 version, you have to use the O button to go from one player to the next. If you pass the player you wanted to select, you have to shuffle around the whole team again, to choose the player you wanted. Other than that, the game is solid in every way.
