This just seems like a terrible waste. You can do 3d games well on any of the other systems avaiable to gamers - that's all people do on every other system. On the one system that has any shot of getting potentially great new 2d games, the GBA, I've seen loads of SNES ports and people futzing around with ugly 3d games. What's the point? Are people at the point where they only play 3d games, even on portables, and even if the graphics are necessarily terrible?
I can't speak for anyone else, but considering I have a high RPG/SRPG/strategy dosage on my GBA, sometimes I just wanna go kill stuff FPS-style.
It's all about variety. It's not like one company (AGB Games) in pursuit of the perfect GBA 3d engine is going to hamper 2d progress on it. And it's also false to assume that wanting a little 3d on the GBA means I'm opposed to 2d. Far from it. But if I can get a little FPS action amidst the platformers, RPGs, action games and such, what's wrong with that?
I'm with Tsubaki. What's wrong with variety?
Although I do think Quake is a little too much for the GBA to handle, especially with its lack of buttons.
Yup, my thoughts exactly. Also exactly why I haven't touched my GBA in ages. I'm especially disappointed that Nintendo's basically just porting their SNES library over.Quote:

Long ago when the GBA was first announced I was under the impression that SMA was a new Mario game using the SMB2 engine. Odd premise, but it still had me very excited. When I found out it was just SMB2 again, bleh. The "big" launch game wasn't just an NES game, it was an NES game based off a famicom game that was also on the SNES. How lame is that?
The developers are doing this for the challenge. They want to see how far they can push the Game Boy Advance. They want to see the system do stuff that Nintendo said it couldn't. The fact that it's not gonna come out in boxed form proves as much.
So why the hell are you guys bagging on these coders? They aren't WASTING their time, theyre not doing stupid stuff because the system's 3D looks ugly. They are doing it just to do it. For that reason... I think it's a cool thing.
As for the 2D/3D thing... blargh. BUt you know... with the GBA, I would take some creativity (yea, yea, its just Quake, but its pretty creative cause they crammed it in there) over Nintendo's game strategy. As much as I like the SNES, I want more than just the SNES games I beat already on my GBA!
