I have never used one of these computers as far as I can remember(I have only played older Apple II machines) but I'm interested in learning more about it, specifically its games.
Anyone have any experience, game recommendations, good history sites, etc. ?
I actually had an Apple IIe myself... never tried a IIGS.

The downside is SLOW load times. The upside is the best versions of Silpheed, Winter Games, World Games, and Zany Golf out there. Pretty damn good Pirates! as well... Wow, it's been so long since I've hooked my little apple up.
I had one when when I was growing up. It's still in my parents' basement.
I have played those games, just all on different formats(PC, C64, and Genesis). Winter Games is awesome. I'm wondering, in what ways are these versions better than the other formats?
And being a big Last Ninja fan, I'm also wondering what the IIGS version is like, if anyone has played it.
It's the "G and S" in Apple IIGS: Graphics and Sound. The IIGS versions of those games look and sound so much better than the PC, NES, Genny, and C64 versions it's like night and day. The controll seems to be a bit more responsive (although play is slower) in the Epyx "Games" as well.Quote:

The IIGS versions of all the old Sierra "quest" games are also the best. Better color, sound effects and music.
The strange thing about the Seirra Quest games is that they used Apple IIGS sound with Apple IIe graphics. Weird.
Just another reason why apple rocks so much. I grew up with apple my whole childhood, starting with my mac plus. It was nothing spectacular, but there was some mighty fine RPGs on there...not to mention BOLO...
The computer lab at my Middle School was outfitted with these. Of course, the only games we got to play were Number Munchers and Odell Lake, etc. Still, those games, contained on strange-looking 3.5" "floppy" disks, were quite the novelty for me in 1992.
A DOS version of Number Munchers exists. I shall try to track that one down. :D
