This is the last time I respond when someone says shooters don't have depth.
Some of the levels in World 3 in Super Mario World were pretty deep, underground! Hey oh! Zing! Hooo boy! :: slaps knee ::
I do agree shooters are a quick fix just to have some fun, they a relatively short games and require lots of hand to eye skills and quick reaction times, they keep pushing you to do better then before :)
Or how about in Super Mario Bros. 2 where you where in the sand areas and you had to dig you way down... that got pretty deep too :DQuote:

in regards to the last couple of comments and especially Robs above me...
The reason shooters are mis-understood is because people do approach them like say a platformer or an rpg...well i beat it in an hour on hard, but they fail to realize they had a score of 1000 when they won because they continued 30 times, i just read some lame review of Gunbird 2 on a website, 2 out of 5 stars for this reason, shit ive been trying to crack 400,000 points for two nights now for the high score thread...( side thought: DOA3 can be played like a shmup in Survival mode - - - try it.)
Sometimes the object is not to see the ending.
One of the reasons Silvergun did reach that cult status was becuase in many ways it was a platform/shmup, its also one of the reasons it doesnt get much playtime from myself, and I hope to God Ikaruga is more twitch/score related.
I shall catch the blue thingys and try the Gunbird games then! To the Dreamcast Mobile! Dah-dah-dah-dah...
Clash, I usually play not just soley for fun, but to enter another world (so to speak). I don't enjoy coasters as I said, or speeding and being crazy afraid of heights, I doubt I'd like SDing...
Ethugg:play parodius.
Just wanted to bring up Zero Gunner2. I finally got to play it, and I really loved it. Such a wonderful idea. I would love to see a ZG3 someday. Im really sleepy so commenting on it in detail is difficult. I cant wait to get back to the arcade and give it another go though.
Z-roe
it is a really nice game with some spectacular visuals..
it's 2-player mode is more fun than ikaruga's, IMO..
