Square up to their tricks again, now with Kingdom Hearts

"Kingdom Hearts -Final Mix-" is scheduled for release in Winter, price undetermined. Its theme song "Simple and Clean", is currently available as samples in singer Hikaru Utada's official site.

What do you guys think about these releases?
A way to please the Japanese audience or some other reason.

Sounds like Square just wants to suck up some realy easy extra money from the Japanese hardcore. I mean its just the U.S. version with Japanese Subtitles.

If Hikaru Utada is singing the theme for this game, it'll be another reason to get this game. Glad that this is just the domestic version for the Japanese...

Quit overreacting.

Final mix was created to appease the japanese since we're getting a a better version than they orginally did. The US version is supposed to have more bosses and a hard mode.

Hard mode? Does this mean you have to run around and mash O moreso to kill things? =D

that's probably my second reason for wanting this game. Hikari is such a great song. my top reason is simply for Alice in Wonderland.

Sorry for the wait. Around last thursday, I went to EB to buy a new mouse( cuz you know, they have em dirt cheap). After paying for it, I start to play the starfox/mario demo and hog the machine. Since I'm a big guy, the customers are afraid to ask me to let them try.:D I continue playing for a half hour, minding my business when 3, how do I put it, "sheeple" come in. They start looking around, and start berating some of the little kids in the store for liking the GBA Super Mario World. As tempted as I was to rip them a new ass, I kept my mouth shut. Then the Kindom Hearts video starts to play on the TV all EBs seem to have. They watch a little bit of it, then start to comment how absolutely fucking gay it is because it has disney characters in it, and how, get this, they would never be caught playing it. The EB employee, hearing this, mentions how its made by Square, and that it has cloud, sephiroth, squall, etc. and goes on. Do you want to know what came out of their mouths once they heard the words "Sephiroth and Cloud?" "Oh my god, I have to get this game now!" "When does it come out?" "How much is a preorder?" At that point I couldn't keep my mouth shut anymore, and unfortunately the first words that came flying out were:

"What the fuck is wrong with you?" At that point, it was like the world came to a stop so everyone could look at me. The EB employee, bless her heart, kept her calm and said "If you're going to yell at our customers, I'll have to ask you to leave." At that point, I was more than happy to.

Welcome to "How Square sells its shitty games" and a prime example why I don't listen to Square fanboys for more than 2 seconds. The 2 seconds being how long it takes to realize that they're a Square fanboy.

It only takes about half that time to figure out a bias jerk though :p

I love Squaresoft but at least I know when they make crap games, I can't stand the typical Square Fanboy myself because even they get on my nerves :rolleyes:

I almost like it better, when Square made games that only the hardcore could appreciate. But, with Square's games becoming more of a mainstream attraction, I at least get a larger dose of thier games, instead of waiting 3 years for the next installment.

Kingdom Hearts features 3 more boss battles than it's Japanese counterpart (See EGM Magazine). The Japanese gamers will buy anything. Sure, the the US version features top notch Hollywood acting, but why would anyone buy the same game twice, for some minor upgrades?

True! But the only Capcom game that had that minor of an upgrade would be Street Fighter 2, to Street Fighter 2 Turbo. At least that made a big difference in the gameplay.

Ummm... did you forget Resident Evil, oh look this version has Dual Shock support and two new outfits :p

This Directors Cut has extra stuff and the unedited intro... what they didn't include the unedited intro because they messed something up :p

Capcom, Squaresoft, Konami and SNK are the biggest offenders in this area... some remakes are good especially when they are older games that cannot be had easily... but games that came out not that long ago aren't as good.

Goes to show, that people will buy anything. I avoided most of those BS sequels/upgrades, as they were a waste of cash. I did'nt even bother with Super Street Fighter 2 or SST2 Turbo, as they were Street Fighter 2 Turbo with 2 additional characters at best. I did however buy Alpha, Alpha 2 and 3.

I loved the Alpha series, it was because of that series that my interest in Street Fighter returned after being dulled by all those partial upgrades.
