Ikaruga Feeding Frenzy (or, oops, why did I buy this game?)
I'm just sorta curious, since the Ikaruga thread is possibly the hugest thread on the history of the internet (outside maybe the Derek Smart flame war), how many people are buying Ikaruga and are going to be either terribly disappointed, not interested, or sticking it on a shelf still in the celophane.
There aren't that many people here who love shooters, I have this eerie suspicion that a lot of people who are buying it are getting it because, well, its cool, and its DC, and its Treasure, and its limited release, and its the longest thread in the history of the internet, etcetc.
Then they're gonna unwrap it on I-day and pop it in their DC, play for fifteen minutes and go 'wtf this game is too hard and/or short!'
But maybe I'm wrong, maybe this is the holy rebirth of shooter fandom that will trigger a wave of rabid developers eager to create a host of new 2d shooters utilizing the latest 3d techniques on the strongest platforms out there, and we'll revel in the creation of a thousand thousand new wonderful games. Or not.
A question then, for those of you who are not shooter fans, why are YOU buying Ikaruga?
