How do you people do it?

I've been getting somewhat annoyed lately...I have this massive pile of games to play just sitting in my room, and it seems I have less and less time lately to play them (and yet I buy more and more...). Meanwhile, I hear people here talking about how thay manage to finish a game (or more) a week. Hell, I'm lucky to finish a game a month lately with my schedule. I can understand if you're a kid and have the summer off and only work a part-time job or something, but how do you older guys make all this time to play games? I mean, I have to juggle a full-time job, laundry, food shopping, chores around the house, a girlfriend (thank god she's a gamer), friends...it seems I have barely any time left over to actually play games, or indulge in any of my other hobbies either. I have a ton of planned artwork that I'm dying to get started on. Damn. I guess sometimes I just need to say "no" when someone asked me to hang out or something. How do you busy guys find so much time to game? Do you set a certain time aside every day or what?

Oh, and for that guys who will say, "Well, why don't you play games with your friends?", well, I have a few friends that are gamers that I can play with, but most of my main friends aren't really into games. They're the types that prefer to go out and do stuff, which is cool, too. Sometimes they'll play games (though none of them take gaming as super-serious as I do- it's weird being the lone gamer in the group sometimes), but usually they just want to meet girls. :) Besides, I'm talking about having time to play all my single-player games...

Early in high school I played games enough to beat like a game a week or more. The problem was, I had no money to actually buy games, so it was usually the same games being beaten :)

Now I have no time to play games, yet I buy them like mad.

Well, I work part time, although that equates to 24-33 hours a week. I only need 3 or 4 hours of sleep, so staying up late even though I have to work the next morning is no problem. I either play at night, or I'll take a game or two with me when I go somewhere else. I manage to finish a game or two a week sometimes because I'm (and I'm not tooting my own horn) good. It's just the longer rpgs, or the strategy rpgs that kill pile of shame progress. And unfortunately that's the majority of what's in my pile. Shoulld have finished Azure Dreams a month ago instead of 2 weeks ago.

I have the time per-se to finish several games per month. I have too many other things to do, however, so I budget my gaming time.

Monday-Friday: 1 hour a day.

Saturday: 3 hours in the AM

Sunday: 2 hours in the AM

thats 11 hours per week- not bad. and i still have time to do everything else.

I... have...... no life. *sobs*


... and yet I barely beat any games... *sobs even more*

Well, I feel exactly like you Dolemite. Lately with work(while not doing much at work at the time, you still have to sit in the office full time, which cuts your possible gaming time, and I also had to work on some of my projects at home, so here go my weekends :)), family(with wife and DJ, I just cant spend all my time just playing games :), they need some love too :)), housework(damn remodeling is taking too long to finish), my love for movies(sometimes its hard to decide if I want to watch this cool new dvd, or just play this great game :)) its really hard to concentrate on gaming.

More and more I let DJ to take a wheel of the game, and watch and guide him through. But with the games that he doesnt like much, like rpgs, I usually try to play them later at night(especially on weekends), but still my pile of shame is GROWING !!! And with EVEN more games on the horizone, I dont really know, what I will do about it.

I beat the games that are must-buy and if there are multiple must-buy games sitting around, one of them is finished while the other sits in the pile of shame for pretty much all of eternity. I'm working on Mega Man Battle Network though... between working on my website, watching anime, and playing games (and hanging out with friends), it's been very tough... and forget about it when I'm in college...

Yeah, you certainly seem to know where I'm coming from. Well, except that I'm not married and I don't have a kid. I suppose the lack of time is even worse for you. Poor guy.

And when I DO get some free time, trying to figure out which of my many hobbies I should squeese in gives me a headache. Games, artwork, anime, movies, or reading a book?

I wish I was the type that could get by on 3-4 hours of sleep a night, but I just can't manage it. Here and there, sure, but overall I need my 7-8 hours. Bah. Sleep is a necessary evil.

Zerodash seems to have a good system in place, with the whole one hour a day during the week and a few hours gaming in the AM on weekends...maybe I'll give it that a shot.

How true :) Having less time to sleep and you body being able to be cool about it, would definately given me more time to concentrate on my gaming, movie watching reading, and maybe even studying. Unfortunately I need at least 5-6 hours of sleep, otherwise I will be grumpy all day long :)

I have no time to finish games myself anymore. I'm lucky if I get through 2-3 games in a month. But I keep right on buying them... And now classes start next week so it's going to be even worse. :(
