I've been reading the online reviews of this game and people keep bringing up the legendary difficulty level.
I bought this game a few weeks back, put the difficulty level on proffesional and now I can breeze through the game without barely losing any lives.
Am I that good or is everyone else that bad?
I even know the pattern for defeating the red gargoyles, it's not that difficult.
I've been wondering the same thing about Contra Hard Corps.
It's sad. I miss the old games that were impossible to beat until you learn the patterns, and then it's a breeze... until you reach the next level and learn THOSE patterns. These days, that's considered too frustrating. Games have to be so easy that the casual gamer can beat them without any serious challenge.
well, it's true.. once you know the ins and outs of the game, it really isn't that difficult anymore..
the same can be said about almost any game..
i guess the thing about super ghouls n ghosts is that it's pretty much really really hard for beginners from the start.. then i guess they might get frustrated and leave it..
great game, though, IMO, and deserves to be among the classics..
I think the challenge is in learning the patterns, and the fact that you have to go through the game twice. Even then, it only took me a day when i first played it to make it to the end.
super ghouls and ghosts is by no means an easy platformer, but after beating ghosts and goblins numerous times, it really wasn't too hard.

Can you offer up a strategy that works for defeating the SECOND (green) demon boss at the end of Stage 7? (Using the Goddess Bracelet)
its weird....but back in the day i could breeze thru ANY 8 or 16-bit games without a prob. these days i never usually finish a game? course thats prolly because i either become uninterested (since i have more money to buy more games at a a time) or frustrated with game problems like bad cameras. theres many a game lately where ive gotten to the end, saved...and never finished. SoA and Shenmue come to mind.
nope - your -that- good. Its a hard game.
You're right! Contra Hard Corps will kick your ass untill you learn it. Then you can walk through the game with ease. It definately comes down to the patterns.Quote:

I have always considered it a huge flaw that video games rely on memorizing patterns or situations. In real life if one encounters a dangerous situation, he can't just replay the situation again with the danger behaving in the exact same way. So, I think more randomness is a good thing.
Back on topic, Super Ghouls N Ghosts is pretty hard but I found it much less difficult than say Battletoads or Thunder Blade. Those were cruel games.
