I hadn't played a KI game in years, I forgot how much fun it is to just mess around with the engine. I never understood why so many people hate Killer Instinct.

Well, the people who hate VF say this game isn't cerebral. The folks who love VF say the game isn't cerebral, and the folks who love KI say the other games aren't fun. The KI games are meant to have fun with, and they do that job well. Those expecting a Freudian game full of strategy will of course be disappointed, those expecting a good time won't be.
The d-pad on the n64 controller is a waste of plastic. Terrible response in that game. Good thing most 64 games used the analog stick instead.
I like the N64 Dpad, I just wish the C buttons were a little bigger
KI Gold is a really fun game. 7 bucks is a good deal.
You get what you pay for...
You should've gotten MK Trilogy instead.
KI gold shits all over MK Trilogy
KI FOR ME was a much better series than MK
im intrgued by a new MK id be going fucking crazy for a new KI
I love KI the game is just a simple and yet complex fun fighter
linking a nice big combo to your ultra combo for a nice 155 - 175 hit combo is just soooo much fun
and i had no probs with the N64 d-pad for this game
Jago and Tusk rocked in that game
my friend was freaking unstopable with Saberwolf in it
just a great series i loved it
it deserves a sequel please rare PLEASE
KI and MK are the worst 2D fighting series of them all. Picking a winner between them is like picking a winner between Bill Clinton and Jimmy Carter.
The KI and MK games are far from being the worst ever. People have different tastes in games, deal with it already.
if you think KI and MK are the worst 2d fighters then youve played very few fighters
*Picks Eyedol and juggles Johnpv back and forth with that cheap dash move for the entire duration of the match.*
I'd like to nominate Deadly Moves as the worst 2D fighter ever.
Power Athlete or Battle Blaze are my nominations~
too bad idol isnt a character in KI Gold and besides you wouldnt have been able to do that anyway :PQuote:

i think he was only playable via a code on the SNES KI
*edit* forgot the Gold after the first KI there
From Gamefaqs:Quote:

Coin-Op > Arcade > Fighting
Killer Instinct
Play as Eyedol
Select Riptor, then hold Left+1+2+4; hold Right+2+3+6, during the VS screen, but before the screen fades. The game will say 'Eyedol'.
And yes, I have seen that lame ass air juggle in action.
When I saw it, I pulled one of these: , walked away and never looked back.
were talking about KI Gold here not the arcade game
anyay how is that infinite different from the ones in almost all KoF's in MvC2, MvC, CvS2 etc etc etc
and again just like those infinites you have to get them on the person some one who really knows the game your not going to do it on
Cool deal SpoDaddy. I had fun with this game when playing with my friend, I had no problems with the controls but the rock-paper-scissors system is tough for me to figure out. I wanna pick up a few more N64 games to round off my collection...
And yes, worst fighting games have been made.
Way of the Warrior is one poor ass 2D Fighter, its like it was made by a bunch of drunk guys who just played Mortal Kombat for six hours and thought they could do better.
way of the warrior IS ass...but ill give it credit for getting me into Rob Zombie...or at the time, White Zombie :)
The only thing I cared for in Killer Instinct was that it had a werewolf in it... he wasn't that good ether and Jon Talbain is sooo much better anyway :D
Yeah, Werewolf we know you like Werewolves you don't need to tell us everychance you get. Just letting you know.
Worst 2D fighter of all time for me is, bar none, S.H.A.D.O.W.: War of Succession-- I kept this game for a week, aghast at its horrible engine and shoddy design.
S.H.A.D.O.W. made Way of the Warrior seem like a good game.
Primal Rage is my nomination. That game sucks major ass.
Primal Rage is HARDLY the worst fighter ever made.Quote:

I've played worst fighters but they were 3D. Criticom and Dragonball GT come to mind.Quote:

Fight Fever, a lil obscure Neo Geo fighter is horrid. It could qualify as worst ever.
I always thought KI Gold was a very impressive game that early in the N64's life. Really nice graphics, sound, and I thought it controlled well. Although, I'm not the biggest KI fan.
That right there has to be the worst fighter ever. I only played a demo, but it still haunts me to this day. The graphics were so terrible for a 3do game, and I don't even think I was ever able to pull off one move.Quote:

Play Battle Monsters on the Saturn, and you will see one of the worst digitized 2-d fighter's ever made. Rise of the Robots is another.
Killer Instinct, and KI Gold are entertaining at least. While not exactly deep fighters, they do entertain.
CO-CO-CO-COMBO BREAKER!!!
Sorry, I just had to say it... :P
I used to turn off the auto-combos so I could play it more like streetfighter :D
Ever play "Hey Punk are you Tuff E Nuff?!" for the SNES? Its pretty bad as well. So is Street Combat, but in Japan that game is a Ranma 1/2 game, but in america they thought it would be cooler to change all the characters into Robots and such.
Tuff E Enuff was fun. I remember playing that game when some guy blew up his own house just down the street from mine, and tried to blame it on skinheads.
Good times.
KI is a bad game, but it had cool atmosphere. I enjoyed it.
To Yoshi: I also think Clinton was a far better president than Carter. He was one of the better presidents we (oops, silly me) you've had in the past couple of years. But that's just me...
One of the worst fightings games I've played is Battle Arena Toshinden. I know some people liked it, but why?
I'd love a KI 3. Though, I would imagine it would go multi-platform. Anyone looking foward to MK5? Looks like it's shaping up well to me.
I like Battle Arena Toshinden 1 & 2 they had great music and cool characters. Anyone remember Time Killers? That was a pretty damned gory game.
Hey now, I resent that!Quote:

I've wanted to pick up MK trilogy for a while on N64, can't find it for less than 25 bucks though. Is it the best version of the game?
