Game Over?

I haven't enjoyed gaming much lately since the DC died. Just a few weeks ago when KoF2K finally arrived you'd thought I had just won a million dollars. Opening a new DC game again for the longest time was awesome and I have to say that it's a great game. So far I've been let down with Sega's 3rd party efforts. I bought JSRF and Gunvalkrie and traded both in within a few months. I couldn't get into VF 4 too, but I was hooked on VF 2 for the Saturn. So what the hell is my problem? For God's sake I'm begging people to play ChuChu Rocket and PSO even though I know it won't be as fun as it use to be. I thought the Xbox would fill in and Halo was awesome, but there's still a void. I bought a GBA because I love 2-D, but I never touch thing though this "might" change with new Castlevania. I still have my Ps2 with about 7 games and I've had fun with it, but something is missing. I'm afraid I might get out of gaming after Ikaruga and KoF2K1 and this is coming from someone who's been playing since Combat. Hmm, maybe I a need a Gamecube and Sunshine?? Maybe I just need a game system that is made for 1 purpose...playing games and having fun without the bullshit of launching nuclear attacks or paying 40+ dollars a month so I can play online. Videogames have always been my #1 hobby and I'm just saying what I feel about it not that all the new games suck or anything. Just curious if anyone else is having trouble adapting?

Maybe you should pick up a new hobby, like Trampolining or Arm Wrestling.

Videogaming is my favourite hobby for my whole life. Sega is my favourite videogame developer.. but I still love games as much as I always have. I am not thrilled about eventually having to buy all three of these consoles to get all the games I want... and I don't like any of them even half as much as Dreamcast, but it's not the worst thing in the world. There are still plenty of good games. The GBA is already one of the best consoles ever with an amazing lineup of classic games.

Anyway, the only worry I have is how to pay for all the stuff I want. :)

Im 99% done with videogames. I only play shooters and old-school games and Bemani now. And even then (with the exception of Bemani) I can only play for like an hour before I get bored. Im so sick of videogames. The bug is never gonna bite me again, seriously... Im done.

I have some opinions on how games effected me, but they are prolly too weird to even bring up. Needless to say, Im a total casual gamer now. Im just waiting for myself to forget all the knowledge I built up over the years (it took a while for me to forget the baseball knowledge so who knows).

I concur with most of the above. Take a break. Being away from it for awhile might rekindle your interest. If not... call it quits.

If you do call it quits, DO NOT, I REPEAT, DO NOT sell off your collection. You will totally regret it later, regardless of how little you care about your games now.

Gaming has always been one giant thrill ride for me so I have had no trouble adapting to its changes. I love watching and playing its evolution.

If gaming has become less exciting for you, just do what the others have said and take a break for a while.

Sometimes I find that I like hearing about games or listening to other people share their gaming viewpoints or stories more than I like playing them myself. I do not know why this is. Of course, when I actually do make myself play a game thesedays which is a rare thing, I find that I do enjoy it. In fact, I've been playing more games this summer than I have in the past two years.

My advice, take a break, or switch to something new such as PC Gaming - there is plenty of stuff to be excited for. Making time to play them is the challenge.
