A rather obscure ArtDink title involving you as a caveman attempting to build a monument tall enough to reach the sun. The premise is very attractive to me (sounds like it can also be an Orisinal game) but having not played it yet, I'd naturally like to hear some opinions.
So...what's the word?

It's a pretty weird, but good, game. I don't remember much since I last played it a while ago, but it was pretty fun. A bit simplistic though.
I can't tell you what the consensus is, but I can tell you I was bored as hell, and haven't picked it up again after playing it once.
I haven't played it but it always intrigued me.
And this thread reminded me that I have only touched my copy of Aquanaut's Holiday once. I should go back and figure out what the hell to do in that game.
This game always interested me as well. I remember being in Fred Myer early in the PSX's life, and it was between this and Beyond the Beyond for my money. Damn Beyond the Beyond's interesting cover that persuaded me to take it over this :p Anyway, considering Tail of the Sun's premise, anyone else looking forward to A.D.? I can't wait for it, it's Molyneux's next game and it's based in prehistoric times :)
I tooled around with a Japanese copy of this game for a bit last year and it bored me to tears. Guess I'm with the 'thugg. The only reason I'd want it is that the US version is not exactly common.
Neo: Let us know if you ever unearth Aquanaut's Holiday. That's another game I'm curious about (but suspect is boring tedium, ala TotS).
I guess my sentiments mirror Halverson's GF review of ToS. The game really doesn't bind you, go where you wish, attack what you want, and eat a whole lot of errr stuff you find lying around. The open ended gameplay coupled with running across all manner of oddities on the landscape was fun to me, I like game titles that offer exploration and this game is about such.
The graphics are quite crude though and frankly, it's a game that you will like or loathe. Ahhh pretty colors in the sky... *-neo
Okay, I'm likely never going to play this thing, so can someone tell me what happens once you build up your monument all the way to the sun? I always wondered the answer to this question ever since I read the review in Gamefan. They made it seem like it was something cool.

Question: Is there any structure to this game or go where you like whenever you want? And how large is the world?
Your caveman/woman is finite, they have a lifespan which limits you. Once they die you pick another member of your tribe to begin travels again. The food you pick up affects your body parts, perhaps making your lung capicity larger, legs stronger, etc. It all translates to your character can climb a mountain easier, cross bodies of water with greater ease and so on.Quote:

Limits placed on you? Well, the more hostile creatures tend to live further from your tribe thus incentive to build yourself up, plus terrain and food supply varies great as you move further away from the tribe. Also when you kill animals you recieve meat which you can use yourself or give the tribe. I'm not sure if it's the meat or the mammoth bones but your tribe grows and makes new inventions with your further progress.
I'm not sure how big the world is but you can walk in one direction for minutes at a time with nothing stoppig you except your own limited trats. *-neo
