Underwater games for the PSone

NeoZeedeater's mention of Aquanaut's Holiday in the TotS thread reminded me to create this thread. I've always enjoyed aquatic games that take players below the surface level (even the worst ones have nice scenery at least) and the PlayStation seems to have a decent amount of them floating around. Problem is though, I haven't played any of them.

Any opinions on Aquanaut's Holiday, Treasures of the Deep, Critical Depth and any other deep sea games I've overlooked? Any simulation games (the ones like Silent Service or those NGPC games...Sub Alert?) should be discarded for this thread.

In The Hunt. And this may well be the weirdest thread ever.

!!!!!! The most frustrating thing in all of gaming, IMO, is going underwater. I despise it with a passion, and wish death upon it. Nothing has ever pissed me off more than the Zelda : OoT's (or was it MM..) water temple.

i really liked Treasures of the Deep...graphics might be dated now though...

Treasures of the Deep has great gameplay, and it's addictive as hell. Critical Depth can be a fun game if you take it for what it is.

I loved Critical Depth. That is all.

P.S. Anyone know how that boat combat game, Dead in the Water (I think), is?

From what I remember reading about it, it's a great game.

An underwater Playstation game that has interested me since Gamefan first showed it is an import called B.L.U.E. You play as a diver and I think it's some type of action/adventure game. The reviews I have read mostly say it's average so I haven't risked buying it.

In the hunt. The art reminds me of Metal Slug.

Bad ass game.

Yeah In The Hunt has a very Metal Slug esque look to it, very detailed but kind of sketchy looking almost.

I have played very few of the Underwater games for the PS that you guys have been mentioning. I would like to play Treasures of the Deep though.

Anyone here ever play the game Shipwreckers!, its not an Underwater game, but you use Pirate ships. I have always wanted to see what its like but have heard very little about it other then a old review at IGN. But I was wondering if any of you have played it.

I played the demo of Shipwreckers a long time ago. I didn't leave a big impression on me since I hardly remember it. It was 3/4 overhead view I think. If I can find where I put my old OPM demos I will play it again and describe it better.

Yep! I played Shipwreckers! I liked it. It is by no means a great game, but there wasn't a whole lot in the way of pirates back then, and I was starving for some plank walking action...which I remained starving for, as there wasn't a single damned plank to walk in Shipwreckers. :(

All one ever needs for the Swash buckling action is to just pull out one of the Monkey Island games, and let your mind drift away into the fine world Lucasarts has created.

In The Hunt and Treasures of the Deep. Great, great games, mofo.

Well, Not a real underwater game, but Dino Crisis 2 had some sequnces set underwater, whith you wearing deep diving suit, and shooting dinos with a underwater machine gun.

There was also Deep Fighter for DC, which was notable mainly for its semi-hilarious(ly bad) FMV intermissions.

Ape Escape has some underwater segments. Good game.
