If you're looking to play PSone games, definitely get an actual Japanese PSone/PSX. Many games run slower/have problems when played on a PS2. Best to just play them the way it was intended. As for a source, maybe talk to SevenForce, PaCrappa, or look into Aki_Direct.
I'm having a problem with my DDR 3rd mix playing on a US PS with a Goldfinger. It seems I can't load 2nd mix at the disk change screen. Does this feature not work without an import PS? I really want to play the second mix songs with the 3rd mix interface...
i also have the goldfinger and I am having problems with Tobal No.1...I can't hear any of Yasunori Mitsuda's beautiful soundtrack!! The game is missing nearly half of it's force without it, hence, I too am looking for a Japanese PS1, the original, not the new, little version.

Why would you not want the "new little one"?
It works fine for me with a modded psOne. Going through 3rd mix is the only way I can get 1st and 2nd mix to run. If I try to play them directly, they detect my modchip.Quote:

That's where I got mine from. Honestly, trying to find a better deal is insanely hard; most Ebayers bundle in a bunch of stuff so the bids go well into the $300+ (all I wanted was the core system), and they're $5 cheaper then NCS (negligable, sure, but I don't know what NCS' shipping is at that price and it's cheap as hell at VGD).Quote:

I want the original model to go with the rest of my video game collection. The small one just screams out of place and 'new' NOT ORIGINAL! I always prefer the original versions of consoles...3DO, original Saturn, I need a front loading Sega CD, original Genesis, etc. I dunno, as a collector, it's just a weird thing I have. The new PSone's are cute and look all neat and everything, but they just don't match my system collection. I'd pick one up some day as a spare or portable PSone just for the hell of it if I needed...Quote:
