Finally, SIn & Punishment is MINE

Well, I finally got this game(after all the trouble and thanks to Seven Force :) and all ready to play. But here come the minor problem, I dont have import N64 or, converter to play this game.

What do you think is better, get a converter, or modify N64? I remember the tips on how to do it, were posted some time ago, but my memory is hazy, so can anyone tell me again? :)

I already like the box and manual art. Pretty cool, and MechDeus, I know where your avatar came from :)

Good, good! I personally went the converter route and picked up a Wonder Adaptor from NCS for a measly $8. Works like a charm, too. No problems.

Yea, the packaging is certainly a personal favorite of mine. I always have it on display. Nice manual, too. Mmmm.

Oh yea. The game is pretty great, too.

I use my son's Gameshark version 3.3. It works perfectly. Some of the earlier versions won't work like this though.

I got the Wonder Adaptor (that's the official spelling) for free when I picked up VPW 2. I really need to pick this bad-boy up. Played it at an import shop and loved it, can't seem to find a copy for a reasonable price though.

Regarding the N64: I ripped mine open and removed the dust cover.

If you want to do it manually, all you have to do is order a special screwdriver (someone has the exact type, IGN has a do-it-yourself guide as well), the insides of the N64 are very simple. Otherwise, take others opinions on adapters.

4.5 MM gamebit screwdriver will open up the N64. from there, al you need to do is unscrew a couple things with a phillips head, and you're good to go.

Bah, a flat head screwdriver, a hammer, and a precise hand will get the mod job done for free. I have done it on my and several of my friend's N64s, its not difficult at all, and the important pieces that need to be chipped out are both above places that don't suffer any real damage from a minor whack with a screwdriver.

It sounds and looks extremely stupid (some of the looks I got when my friends walked in on me hammering the cartridge slot of my N64 with a flathead were classic) but as long as you don't mercilessly pummel the damn thing in there it should work flawlessly. I bet my N64 on it. :D

Of course $8 really isn't very much money at all. :p

Well, I guess I will just order converter then :) Hopefully it will come soon, since I really want to play now, after all the trouble getting it and all :)

Hey, after you play and get your first scores, stop over at the Guinness Book of Records forum and post em in the Topic I made! It would be reall nice if everyone could post their scores and we could get something going. I love this game so much, and would like to help and see how others are doing on it.

Valgar: I tend to forget about such things. Now that my TV is next to my puter, expect more high scores to come from me since I no longer have to go running around the house if I want to post a score.

Yeah, Despair, a converter's the easiest way to go probably.

I wanted to modify my system to play imports, but at the same time, didn't want to maul the thing opening it or just throw away the plastic dust cover (I didn't want dust getting in the system). Being luckily enough to own the necessary gamebit screwdriver to open up the system and have parents who own a service station helped alot of course...

So I opened up the system, removed the dust cover, took it to work, used the sander in the mechanic's bay to sand off the plastic tabs which prevented the import carts from being put in, then replaced the modified dust cover into the unit.

Yeah, it would have been alot easier to just use a converter or just discard the dust cover, but what can I say? I can be pretty anal about these things :D

I ordered the coverter from NSC, so I hope I will get it early next week. Damn, their prices are high !! Cheapest option for me was regular UPS, and it still cost me $7 !!! Its almost as much, as a damn converter I bought !!! Ow, well, Its better than messing with the system myself, I guess :p

I bought my converter back when I got Mario Kart 64 so it was readily available at my local import shops. I'm guessing even if there was an import shop nearby you, Despair, they probably wouldn't have one anymore. (It was a bitch to find a SNES/SFC converter)

Well, To tell you the truth I dont even know if there are any import gaming stores in Milwaukee :) So my chances to get it in the neighborhood is way too slim. But no problem, I can wait till converter arrives, I still have DTR and Onimusha 2 to beat.

You should live either in NYC or California where local import shops are readily available. :) Or open up your own. ;)

Despair there is a import shop in Milwaukee, but they don't carry that many games. Mostly just some of the "popular" imports, and lots of vids/toys/etc.

I'm almost postive they wouldn't have a convertor too.

:lol:, I doubt that the market for Import games will be very profitable around these parts. :p

i have another solution. when i got my import powerful pro baseball game for N64, instead of ripping open the system, or buy a converter thingy whathaveyou, i just took a shitty game i had, removed the back panel of the cartridge itself, and swapped it with the back of the import cart!
it works great!

Hmm, I can try that. I got Madden 64 game(that came with the system when I got it on Ebay) laying around, so I can experiment with that a little :)

Congratulations on your purchase. Sin and Punishment is the best game I have ever played for an hour, then put on the shelf.

I honestly hope that some day I will play it again. Amazing game...

I too despise the postal service. Thankfully, however, I have actually never had a problem with their Priority shipping service. (And I've used it dozens of times.)

Hmm, I never had any problems with postal shipping. UPS is much more complicated with their awful delivery time(do they honestly expect people to be home between 1 and 2 pm???

I got into a long discussion with UPS one day on the phone when they tried to deliver a package but I wasn't home since I was at work. Basically, every time they could deliver within the next week I would be at work and the package was at a UPS station on the other side of town (I didn't have a car), with nowhere they could drop it off that was even close to walking/biking distance. They had no clue what to do with the package, which rather ticked me me off. I ended up having to convince a friend to drop by the station one day on his way to work and pick it up for me. :mad:

Friggin' UPS, they're a mail drop-off service which requires signatures that only drops off packages when most people aren't home. Who the hell came up with that?

Then why NCS is UPS only?? Except of few USPS options, but those expensive as hell.

Well, the government's strong guidelines pretty much prohibit much else in the way of mail delivery.

Thats odd MechDeus, my UPS people run up to the door knock drop the package on floor then run before I even get to the door. Luckily they hide the packages behind some bushes when i'm not there.

If you're ordering from NCS, email them and see if they'll still give you Priority Mail. A while back they stopped using this option, but allowed existing customers to let them know if they'd still like to use it. I've always used Priority Mail since it's cheap, and it makes it from New York to San Francisco in 2 to 3 days.

Anyone know if Priority Mail comes on Saturdays? I can never remember if they deliver packages on this holy day...

Priority Mail is 2-3 days (average) anywhere in the US, and they deliver Monday through Saturday, not including holidays.

You should have just bought a gamebit. Not only would you get it cheaper and shipped for less, but you'd be able to use the bit on other consoles and Genesis games.
