At first glance this looks like a great deal:

Upon closer inspection, it is a bootleg. The Sega logo is missing at the lower right, "Mega Drive Cartridge" is missing along the top. Buyer beware.

I have accidentally bought Mega Drive bootlegs before. Some of them look so close to the real thing and it's not like the people at the thrift stores I got them from would have any clue.
Anyone got any tips, for what to look for and such to make sure you don't end up buying a bootleg with any type of game?
gungrave (0) is the winn4r! Yoshi, is that you by chance? :D
Like Yoshi pointed out on that game, the Sega logo is missing. Also, look for copyright info.
I'd hope so, guys selling this kind of shit at least deserve the annoyance of an unpaid auction. I still remember how funny it was when people were bidding $12,000 for the Game Cube controller with no wire that guy stole from E3. :lol:Quote:

Will the game play?
Upon even CLOSER inspection, the cartridge isn't even a Mega Drive cart, its a GENESIS cart! Look at the sides of the cartridge...

See, the sides are smooth like a Genny cart, not rough like a MD cart. I feel sorry for whoever bid on that, I'm actually hoping it was a deadbeat bidder this time ;)
Um, is it just me, or did he misspell the damn name of the game?
Nope. yoshiadvance (213) would be me. ;)Quote:

Yup! And upon even CLOSER inspection, the case is missing the "Sega Tap" label (which should reside to the right of the little guy with the stars under his butt on the bottom left of the case), and this guy's case has one of those store shelf hooks. Mega Drive cases don't have those plastic shelf hooks. Also, the "Mega Drive Cartridge" text in English and Japanese is missing along the top of the case (I think this was mentioned).Quote:

Finally, on the cartridge itself (excellent eye on the cart shape, Rag!), all the copyright info is missing, replaced by the same text located on the bottom of the case.
