I'm finding Yoshi to be pretty useless. Why would you have your game based around water, and have one of your characters unable to go IN water?
Is there a blue coin count somewhere? How the hell are you suppost to know if you got all the coins in a level?
Well, there's 30 blue coins per level and 240 total. You're gonna have to keep track of how many you got out of each level on your own. I'd recommend not using the blue coins to buy shines until the end so you know how many still need to goet (if you want to get all the shines, that is).Quote:

Actually there are 30 in all levels except in Delfino Plaza there are 20 and in Corona Mountain there are 10. :D
oops...I've already started my buying binge of Shines...I have no clue as to how many blue coincs I've grabbed in total.
I don't think it matters whether you buy shines or not at any given time, so far I have 74 shines but also keeping track of what I have and need next. After completing all the level specific goals I backtrack and get these:
1)Make sure I get the 100 coin shine
2)Go back to the secret levels and get all the red coins for that shine
3)Collect all the blue coins(although getting the blue coins can be sometimes found by chance of either squirting everything or finding a specfic strategy on how to obtain them)
You can check your track of stuff on the Z button menu or on the start save info.
I usually try to complete everything on every level before going onto the next. Just explore and experiment on everything.

I think I'll have to agree with Zerodash's Wayne quote, and give the nod to Mario 64. It was just a completely new experience at the time... It shamed me horribly.
I was a 2D master, bouncing on an infinte number of goomba heads and mastering every Mario game... and then I sucked ass at Mario 64. I walked around like a retard; I couldn't jump on a goomba head if sex was on the line. But I played (at Toys R Us... their machines didn't reset then), and, by the game's release, I was OK. By the time I finished it, I was great, and I could yell at my friends and tell them how horribly they sucked when they fell off ledges and whatnot.
Mario Sunshine has its share of problems... there's some clipping problems! I've fallen through the ground (to my doom) three times. That should NOT happen in a Mario game. EVER. Maybe in Sonic Adventure, but not in Mario. The levels aren't as varied, since the tropical theme did limit them a bit. I don't see why they didn't do a cave level (underground rivers), a fire level (hot springs, etc.) or an ice level (melted snow, cracks in ice, etc.).
And I wish Yoshi could poop out eggs.
Still a great game, but Mario 64 (at that moment in time right before and through its release) was amazing.
