new PB tonight :) highest chain of 174
26,677,950
http://www.ikaruga-atari.net/sougo_n.php
feels like i'm quite near my limit with the game.
i was lying there, completely.
I'm not anywhere near my limit just yet :)
As soon as i've completed Zelda i'll be back on IKA.
I'm looking forward to the US/UK release to see how i stand.
Shortly after i did my 26.6mil PB i quickly did 26.5 twice LOL
proof if ever i needed it that a really big score was there somewhere, just waiting to be produced.
I don't know what happened here.. I was doing beautifully in the first 3 chapters... then I decided to commit suicide 4 times in chapter 4. Even after a commendable run in chapter 5 I still succumbed to the Ubusunagami Oukinoukai with 5 seconds remaining. That hurt.
Anyhow, here's the new score: 22,224,140, Chapter 5, Kiken, Max Chain 175
i found a dot-eater video of the CHP.5 boss.. (the baloon-like one).. it seems you could get more points by dot-eating him than by beating him as quickly as possible..
this guy milked at least a couple mil off the thing!
That's right. In time, one can earn more than 10,000 pointsQuote:

a second by abosrbing the lasers. That is, the points
earned by milking this way is more than that from the BOSS
DESTROY BONUS. To maximize earnings, it's best to milk
until TIME 1--by then, the boss should be destroyed.
Note that TIME 1 means that there's anywhere from 1/60th of
a second to a second remaining--once TIME is 0, the boss
instantly dies. When there are no more lasers within TIME
1, it's better to destroy the boss and get the additional
10,000 points from the BOSS DESTROY BONUS than to leave it
alone and earn nothing.
i don't see how it's possible to do all the dot-eating and dodging while paying attention to the boss's life meter, but best of luck to you.. :p
its possible all right. Its precisely how the top JP players get scores of 5,800,000.
Ummm, the boss' name is Tageri. :) Although, "balloon-like one" is quite appropriate. ;)Quote:

Alright, my Ikaruga high scores (check me out on the ikaruga-atari.net netranking, I'm blueskied)
Arcade mode:
20,864,270 Max Chain: 150/ Chapter 5
Prototype Mode:
25,208,180 Max Chain: 149/ Chapter A
:)
Are there any other bosses players do this on?Quote:

No. Score attackers only milk the fifth boss's third form.Quote:

Another slight improvement in my Arcade score tonight, new PB of:
21,524,510 Max Chain: 163/ Chapter A
This is verifiable through checking out the www.ikaruga-atari.net ranking.
I won't be happy until I reach 23 million though.
Should get there soon, once I stop losing 3-4 lives on the 5th level bosses.:bang:
New high score.. on the GameCube version.. go figure
22,785,530
Max Chain: 175
Chapter 5
Verified on the Ikaruga Net Ranking page.

I just got nudged out of the top 5 today. Gotta get in some more practice.
Update.
Slight improvement recently:
21,945,460 Max Chain: 160 Chapter A
I just started playing last week:
2,612,240 / Max Chain: 41/ Chapter 3
Ouch! I couldn't stand seeing that on the front page, so here you go.Quote:

Whee, I get to move up 18 spots. I still suck though.:P

FINALLY!!! After so many runs through the game making incredibly stupid errors at the end, I actually played well this time and managed to SCC it!
I owe it all to my new Hori GameCube pad. :)
Kiken
High score: 24,537,510
Max Chain: 175
Chapter: A
Proof:

Back in the top 5! For now. ;)
nice score mate :)
i'm getting a little worried! LOL
Another slight improvement for me tonight:
22,265,400 Max Chain-162 / Chapter A (1 life remaining)
But that's sort of crap really.
One of these days I'll stop making stupid mistakes and bump it up to 23+ million.
And yeah, that's an excellent score Kiken!! I have the Hori pad too, but I don't know how anyone can use that. It's way too loose and the buttons don't feel right. Maybe I got a defective one, I don't know.
Are any of you playing proto?? I have a decent score of 25.2 million there. It would be nice to have some competition. Please give it a few runs and post your scores in the "prototype mode" thread I opened a few days ago here!:)
Woo-hoo! I hit 23 million this afternoon. Here's the new high score:
23,424,350 Max Chain-164 / Chapter A
I finished with 2 lives left over for a 1 million bonus. Level scores were 361/503/339/532/498 (all decent except L3, which was crap!). This is verifiable through the ikaruga-atari.net ranking.
I made a couple small mistakes that cost me a couple lives. Watch out Kiken, I'm gaining on you.:)
I'm thinking I never should have watched some of the videos floating around there. They depress me so intensely I never want to play this game again ;)
Woo! Another crap score! I feel kinda silly submitting this right next to a 23 million score. :P
5,026,760 - Chapter 4 - 78 Chain

kiken, how did you make those vidoes on your website mate?
i'd love to be able to do that.
DaveSS, I use Adobe Premier as my capture program and the ATI TV Wonder VE as my capture card (I'm currently running Windows 2K as my OS).
I first record the demonstrations to videotape (this way I can play on my TV without any distraction) set to SP recording. I then have a second VCR plugged into my PC which I pop the tape into, cue it up and then capture a segment in Premier (uncompressed video for Windows format in 640 x 480 res at 44.1 kHz audio, roughly 250 Megs per minute).
I compress to the AVI MPEG4 hack using MP3 audio compression (which keeps the files down around 8 Megs per minute). After that I just upload them to my page.
BTW, DaveSS, you may want to watch out for that UCG-Trial guy on the net rankings.
yeh he's past my score already, not to worry :)
I've got 5 scores around the 26.3-23.6 region mate, putting it all together is bloody tough :(
videos....
sound complicated to me LOL my PC know-how is limited to say the least. I have tried recording onto VHS but as i'm from the UK my PAL video can't record the NTSC image. You can buy NTSC compatible video recorders though, i might try it :)
aaaagggghhhhh!!!!!
i'm going insane :(
i've got 10 seperate 26 million scores now. no matter how hard i try, i can;t put a good run together. If my scores are good, i die too many times, if i get to level 5 without dying, my scores are crap anyway
I'm not giving in till 27mil at the least is top place on my score board :)
got the gc version recently, and somehow got a high score with the wavebird.
japtor / 10,869,490 / chapter 4 / 113 chain
finally got through to the boss. still cant do the zig zagging part on chapter 1 with the gc dpad well though, i get it like 1/50 tries. same with the circling/closing enemies in chapter 2. i gotta get/make an adapter for my joystick soon. at least im up to 25 on the gc ikaruga score page now.
scratch that.
japtor / 11,578,820 / chapter 4 / 148 chain
had like my best chap 1 and 2 then died 3 times on 3.
