Haha, I thought I was finished with Ikaruga, and tonight I play through the game for "fun" and smash my old score by over 2 million, for a new high of 25.6 million! I made it all the way to the diamond at the end WITHOUT dying (unbelievable), then lost 2 lives there, the last one I lost with 1 second left on the time counter!! Agh. Within a second of 26 million. :(

I managed to finish the game with 5 spare lives, the first time I've ever done that.

Here were my chains/level scores for this run (my best in-game L3 run EVER!! I broke 4 million!!)

L1: 3,653,600 (115 chain)
L2: 4,959,570 (162 chain)
L3: 4,008,370 (120 chain)
L4: 5,470,410 (101 chain)
L5: 5,014,370 (109 chain)

Total: 25,675,020 MAX CHAIN-162 / Chapter A


I don't know how the heck I broke 5 million on Chapter 5 with a 109 chain, that's the first time I've ever done that (I usually need a 110 chain to get over 5 mil)! I beat the bosses with 55/55/54 seconds remaining, maybe that's why. Woo-hoo, it's a good feeling. Taking a break from the game for a week and a half was good for me after all! :lol:

Kiken, I have over a one million point lead on you now, and I'm the top USA player on the netranking now (in both Arcade and Proto!). :) I wonder how long that will last?:sweat:

Hey DaveSS, excellent score (as always!). But be sure to include your max chain reached, for this ranking board. I think it was your L4 chain of 181 or thereabouts?

yeh i keep trying to give up, its very much a love/hate relationship with this game :)

Update. Sorry JM, I'll try to be better about the updates. If anyone wonders why I tend to fall behind updating this one, quote the post with the chart in it.

Hi all, i'm new to this forum and just started playing Ikaruga on the DC a day ago. I'm sure everyone is aware of the fact that this game rocks but hell i will say it anyway, THIS GAME ROCKS!!!

i should really have beaten ICE's score tonight, i manged to chain the whole game in one sitting and get S++ on each level. shame i lost 3 lives on level 5 :(

think it was 166...161 at the lowest. got my first s++ on chap 2 finally. died 4 times on 3...then got through all of 4 for only the 2nd time ever, only to die on the boss AS I BLEW IT UP WITH MY LASERS. boss bonus wouldve given me an extra life. and i wouldve finally unlocked 5 for practice. that was a depressing moment. then i was in shock and awe i guess and only got my first 2 initials in before time ran out. gahhh

I can reach 2million on Chapter 1, but can't freakin' total 2,400,000 to get on the list. I've played Chapter 1 far too long, and not enough Chapter 2. Hell, I've only been to Chapter 3 once.

Well folks, it's the end of an era. No, I'm not going to stop updating the chart, quite the opposite.

The old one was a bloated sack of HTML that was undeniably easy on the eyes, but an enormous pain to update. This new chart will allow me to update in 30 seconds instead of 30+ minutes. I tried to capture the look of the old one as best I could, and I don't think it's all that much worse. I should have done this quite a while ago.

So don't hold any scores back thinking it'll never get updated anymore.

I figure I'll add my humble beginnings to the mix -

I really need a different controller to play this game. The GC d-pad is a piece of crap. Anyone know if that SNES like GC pad is coming out in the US when the GameBoy Player hits?

I need to be more consistent with this game. Too off and on.

Finally bumped up my score after a long draught.

blueskied-TWE - 26,778,170 - Chapter A - 158

Verifiable through the ikaruga net-ranking.
Finished with 4 remaining ships for a 2 million bonus. I broke the chain once in both chapters 2&3, and 3 times in chapter 4. I got 5.15 million in Chapter 3 though, which I'm pretty happy with. My 5.0 million Chapter 2 was a big disappointment, I usually get a 179 chain/5.47 million Chapter 2. Had an average 122 chain/ 3.88 million C1 as well (I usually get a 125-128 chain). But I finished with a nice 114 Chain Final chapter, and did decent on the bosses.

Anyway, time to break 27 million now and head towards 28! Watch out DaveSS. :bs: :lol: ;)

I just realised my score is high enough to make this top 40, so post it I will:

Adman - 2,584,310 - Chapter 2 - 49.

Hopefully I can rise through these rankings, seeing as I'm currently 42nd in the UK...yay? :bang:

Man... I can't come close to any of these scores yet, but I'm curious: How do all you guys play Ikaruga with a VGA box? Do you have your DC modded? I can't get the VGA box to work with my boot disc and ->original copy of Ikaruga.
What gives? This game would rock my block off on a monitor in tate.

I just flipped my TV. I'm using the GC version. A lot cheaper, and not as dangerous as it sounds to do.
