Check this out man:

It's like 20 minutes from the LACC but that's no big thang. A taxi could solve that problem. Its only like $100 a night and its not half bad. Cram like six people in the room and everything will be butter. Worth checking out if you got no other options.
It's the hotel I stayed at when I went to E3 2000. My friend booked it like two months before the show so Im sure you could get a hotel. :)
I would offer you the floor of my dorm but:
01. I dont know you, and
02. My dorm is small.
Good luck.
Thanks for the help. :)
I found some other ones that are two minute drives from the convention center. I was looking for some that didn't require me to take a bus/taxi.
I'm lacking the cash right now so I'll take a better look sometime in December, curiousity made me look around just for fun.
So, I guess it's common for hotels to be booked for what it seems like three years in advance?
i really really want to go to E3 this year.
why?
because im 18, damnit!
....Bahn? could you help a brother out?
Hm? How can I put this gently...
No.
I was so close to going this year, and was definitely going to go to the next one, but the more I think about it, the more unfeasible it sounds cash wise. I'm not too involved in anything in the industry, so outside of a few interviews, and some free trinkets, I'll basicly be paying hundreds of dollars to play some games early, get tired, and be surrounded by the enemy (americans! gack!)... smelly nerd ones at that ;)
No thanks, I'd rather get another PS2 and a bunch of XB games than go to all that trouble.
Thats pretty much what I did in the year 2000... and while I dont regret it I do look back and wonder why I did it. The novelty of it in your head wears off fast, especially after two or three months. What ends up happening is that you are like an authority on all the games for a little while (especially at like EB where I worked at the time), but games that were crap at E3 turn out good and games that were good at E3 turn out crap (Vampire the Masquerade, for example).Quote:

Although if you are a gamer it is kinda cool to go once just to see the excesses the industry indulges in. But... like next year Im gonna be 20 minutes from the conference and Im not gonna go. So... I guess its only good once unless you are seriously into games.
See, if I was 20 mins away, I can get in free, so my cost would be shit, I'd go. It's the fact I'd have to go from NY to LA (travel expenses and hassle), hotel expenses and hassle, transportation around one of my most hated of all US cities, and all to play some games early, most of which I will burn for free a week before they are in the stores anyways. Unless the low end workers who have to set up the booths and have access to them can be cheaply bribed into lending me some games to pirate at one nights end of the show, until the opening the next day, I can't see a good enough reason to spend all that money, and take that effort that's better spent lying on my sofa struggling to breath after stuffing my face with cookies, watching the 2nd season DVDs of the Simpsons for the 1000th time in a row. :)
why do you hate me? :(Quote:
