Mars Matrix

How come no one really talks about this game??? All this talk about ikaruga (sp?) reminded me of this game!

Now I havent playd RS or Ikaruga so I can't count those when I say this has to be one of the hardest games I've played, along with the best shmup I've played.

I can only get to the 4th level boss so far but I'm so close to getting a new option for more lives!!!

I love how capcom made it so its like impossible (litturally lol)to beat the game unless you play it over and over to get lots of points so you can get better stuff. Its kinda like false replayability in a way but i love it! Anyone elses thoughs on the game???

oh and BTW how come ok the "demonstration" the guy is the same level at the end of level 1 than I am when i run out of lives?! :wtf:

Sweet Jesus Christ! I love that game to death! I'd dare say I like it better than... RS! Yes, I do! Actually, it's a pretty different game, but I can pick up and play MM more often. What a great, great, ugly (but great) game.

Because he keeps his chains going, so he upgrades faster.

Let me give you a hint to get you past those insane bullet patterns... learn to tap on the mosquito button. You can make a hole in the bullet patterns, then use the few precious milliseconds of invincibility you receive to go to a safer spot centimeters away. If you did it right, the meter should be back up to full in no time.

I'm gonna go play Mars Matrix some more. Excuse me.

FYI, Capcom didn't develop it, they published it. Takumi's responsible.

ive never heard of this Mars matrix, what is it anyhow?

is it like Gradius or Ikaruga, that game is cool!

Back when it was first released, I could go on for days about it. But now...I'm just Mars Matrixed out.

I'll still play it now and then when I feel like playing a good DC game. Incredibly addictive shooter with sweet tunes and awesome explosions.

I burned out on this game like no game before...I actually unlocked everything, which took me almost five months of daily playing. I got better at shooters playing this than I ever thought I would; this is one mother of a hard game, mosquito trickery or not. You've gotta be some sort of cyborg to beat that last boss (not the actual matrix, the stuff before it) without getting hit. The one ECM-ism I'll always remember is him claiming the game got easy once you figured it out. Whatever, buddy. Still, a great pure-gameplay experience, however mind-blisteringly hard a one-credit completion may be. The fact that I actually felt compelled to play it long enough to do everything in it speaks for itself.

Never did get as good at chaining as that guy in the strategy vids, though. That dude is one cold muthasucka [/wesleysnipes].
