I'd like some impressions

I loved the previous incarnations of each on the PSone and was wondering if they were worth getting now.

I tried playing the old TwistedMetal the other day only to realize how awful it looks now. It was like driving around missle launching cardboard boxes. I know I remember going crazy over it 5 or so years ago and I remember how multiplayer made it all the worthwhile. Is TMB better or is just the same 'ol same 'ol?

GT3 just looks beautiful and I remember having a lot of fun with GT1. I never got to far into it because I was playing the import at the time. When GT2 came out I heard reports of a memory card delete glitch so I never got around to buying it. I've read that GT3 is basically GT2.5 so I guess It'll be a fresh experience to me.

I also wouldn't mind any other (cheap) reccomendations.

If you ask me Twisted Metal Black is brilliant. The levels are far bigger and grander in scale than the old games, and feature some amazing cool set pieces like the carousel in the town level. Twisted Metal Black renders the PSX games obsolete as it does everything the good ones did but it does it better and smoother and cooler.

The game also features some great character design and a dark feel that really works in its favor. Its also brutally hard at first.

Seriously I would say that TMB is one of the top 10 games the PS2 has to offer.

Excellent. That's exactly what I wanted to hear. I've been in the mood for car combat but the old ones just won't do it for me anymore.

They they do anything interesting with the multiplayer? I hear it's up to 4 players. I'm pretty sure you can't even see your car let alone where it's driving.

I never really played the previous TMs, but I found TMB to be one of the most boring games I'd played in a long time. Maybe I was expecting too much after hearing so many good things about it, but I played it with a friend (his copy) for about a half-hour and felt ripped-off, I wanted my time back. Even co-op was blah.

It looked alright and it played decently but just wasn't interesting. Made me wish for some old Carmageddon, I prefer to smash cars instead of shooting at tiny targets in giant wide-open arenas. They could have at least provided some interesting obstacles.

If you enjoyed TM2, you will absolutely love TMB. End of story. I gave it a perfect score in a review that never got published.

GT3 was pretty sweet as well. But I got bored with it very fast, it is in all aspects the same game as 2, with prettier graphics. I wont be buying GT4 without some serious upgrading.

Error: But was GT2 good? That's why i'm really looking forward to picking up GT3.

This also reminds me of how sequels get stupid upgrades and sold as a brand new game (MGS Substance, SSX Tricky, RE: Director's cut). I'm just lucky I never got the first versions.

Twisted Metal: Black is more of the same. That's not a bad thing if you like car combat, but if you think you've had your fill of the genre, then TMB will get really old, really fast. The music also sucks compared to Twisted Metal 2 (the only other in the series I have played). And I thought the in-game graphics weren't so hot either. But it does have cool storylines for the various characters.

GT3 is a great game, in my opinion. If you like doing things like upgrading your car and doing countless tests to earn licenses, then you'll be in heaven. But even you don't like doing that stuff, you still have the excellent Arcade mode which lets you just jump right in and drive without having to worry about all that extra crap. I stuck mainly with Arcade mode and I got my money's worth. Oh, and at the begining GT3 will seem really slow, but that feeling goes away once you get a hang of the game.

Interesting that you call TMB more of the same, but call GT3 a great game. They're BOTH more of the same. Neither do anything remotely new. It all depends on wether you dig the genre.

GT3 was my first gran turismo game...so I guess that explains that.

TM B is still one of my favorite PS2 games. It's got everything you could want in a TM game, and then some.
GT 3 is more of the same for the series, if you liked one, you'll like this one.
