Does anyone notice that their PS2 makes alot more noise when using a NON DVD PS2 Game, the blue backed games.
I just picked up a used copy of TimeSplitters with a few small sratches on it and my Ps2 sounds like a BOX FAN on HIGH when playing the game.
My DVD games are quiet. It seems like Blue Backed games with the smallest scrathes make noise.
The games still play , but I am afraid I could be stressing out the motor , do you guys think that it is ok to play them
Yep, those blue CD games make a weird noise and seem to vibrate a lot. My copy of VF4 is quite guilty of making my PS2 shake.
My PS2 is the one from Japanese launch and it has the same "problem". Among the games I have, playing the earlier PS2 games using CD-ROM format like RRV, TTT, SFEX3, etc. definitely get that booming noise. But interestingly enough, later games on CD-ROM like VF4, doesn't make as much noise as aforementioned games...
SoulCalibur on DC used to go whacko. People say EternalDarkness on GC makes a bunch of noise.
I'm not sure what the fuck is up with stuff like that.
Do you think the load noise is not good for the system?
I've spent countless hours playing RRV, TTT, & VF4, but my PS2 still works fine, so I'd say probably nothing you should be really concerned about (unless that booming noise really disturbs you, that is...).
I have a similar problem, except that DVD movies make my PS2 vibrate...
All the blue backed games make funny noises on my PS2 as well. I don't think it's anything to worry about.
Although I am on my 3rd PS2 and i'm starting to get sick of taking them back.
Blue-backed games vary a lot in my PS2. Stretch Panic and Ridge Racer V are insanely noisy but others like Oni are quiet.
DVDs make my Xbox hum.
