Tonight, by some stroke of luck, I came across the American TV commercial for the first Dragon Warrior. I had never seen it before when it originally aired in 1989. It's actually a neat commercial, I was pleasently surprised (although they could've used more actual game footage). Gotta love that "Now you're playing with power" slogan. :D
My find has encouraged me to invite all of you to share thoughts/memories/links of any of your favorite video game commercials from days gone by.
The Earthword Jim stuff from 94 was great. As were any of the SNES/Genesis war commercials. The Game Gear commercials with the guy bashing himself with a dead squirrel were classics.

Even though it was nothing but gameplay footage and pack shots I've always remembered the commerical for Golgo 13 on NES, had the Rolling Stones playing in the background. *-neo

The sad thing is that I rememebered that off the top of my head.
I remember the Mario vs Sonic commercial powering 2 ice cream trucks, being a sega commercial, the one powered by sonic was easily able to peel out and run circles around teh track, while the one powered by super mario world, looked and sounded like an old beat up pinto on its last beg before exploding in a blaze of glory.
I always liked that Zelda commercial in which that guy is running around a dark room yelling "ZELDA!"
Then he remarks about the monsters in the game:
"OCTOROCKS! AAAAAAAAAAAAHHHH!"

I remember that old zelda commercial that had some geek rapping about the first zelda. And I'm not talking the Link's Awakening comercial either.
Lets not forget the classic Joe Montanna football commercial, in which that EXTREMELY fat shirtless guy was cheering in the stands.
