Metal Gear Solid 3: Xbox only?

We have received word that the upcoming Xbox remake, Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance, will contain a teaser trailer for the Xbox version of Metal Gear Solid 3, the as-yet unannounced sequel in Hideo Kojima’s huge-selling hide and seek sim.

This news has sparked furious renewed rumour that Metal Gear Solid 3 will be an Xbox exclusive, though the official word from Konami Europe at this point is that “…in the current climate, we would be surprised if this were the case.”

If it's anything like part 2 who give a damn? I wouldn't have a problem with it though. I would assume that would more depend on how well Substance does on the XBOX.

Well, If its being developed to take advantage of all the Xbox graphical and processing power I will be happy. But lately, not many games stay "truly" exclusive, and with time, they get ported to other systems.

Ethugg, Splinter Cell looks great, and I'm very excited about it, but lets not judge the game BEFORE actually playing it, ok. MGS2 Looked great too, and everyone was excited, and then whole Story and Raiden thing cameout. Again, MGS3 will come out after SC, so they will have more time to make it better than SC :p

Considering SOL didn't use the DS half as well as MGS did, I have no problem thinking about other controllers for this series. MGS was one of three or four games that the DS was actully good for, but SOL could've been done with plenty of other controllers (in terms of feel, anyway).

MGS was great...and yet for some reason, if they never made another one I really couldn't care less (maybe it's because Dante blew the badass doors off Snake). But that's probably just me. MS getting it exclusive would be huge, though.

While this would be a coup of immense proportions, I don't buy it. Konami has clearly stated on more than one occassion that the PS2 gets their attention while the others get table scraps.

I was really looking forward to Splinter Cell until I saw the video on the OXM disc. It still has potential but I'm not as hyped about it as I was. There is still time though for them to really come through.

Well he has a character from a GOOD Konami game as his avatar. Likeing Rocket Knight Adventures does not imply that you'll also like MGS and Bemani games.

One could harass your affection for Tomb Raider and your disdain for Sony and thier Playstation line.

I personally am taking the "who cares" stance with MGS3 on Xbox (or in general really).

Well, I really can't imagine playing MGS3 with an Xbox controller (or playing ANY game with an Xbox controller :p ) but anyway I doubt it. Konami will be itching for more profits and they will probably release one for the PS2 anyway. I wonder if all these exclusives will make a worthwhile return to MS's pocketbook. It may already be way too late by then in the "console wars".

RKA should not cost too much at your local Gamestop/Funcoland/Soft. Ect. Genesis games are mucho cheap.

Any game I don't have to play with a Dual Shock is fine by me. Anyone who complains about the Xbox controller has never held an S.

Konami will import the jaggies, just for you. It'll be like the filter in Silent Hill 2, which was the digital equivilent of smearing mud on your screen. Konami is thoughtful enough to include it for those who live in mud-free areas like Alaska and the moon.

You know, I used to agree with that sentiment. Then I rented Dead to Rights. And I must say, while the rest of the controller is wonderful, the shoulder triggers are fucking terrible. They're way too small. The top joints of my finger pretty much hit the corner of the trigger. Most of the time I don't notice this, but in a game that is as shoulder trigger intensive as DTR, it became incredibly painful. I had to go back to the old, gigantic model controller after half an hour.

Personally I think Splinter Cell will kick MGS3's arse. Just a hunch. I was a fan of mgs1 but no.2 just didn't have enough gameplay for me.
I felt like the cinemas got in the way of the actual game too much.
But splinter cell looks like it is a true stealth action game, not just a story with bits of gameplay in between.

Has anyone here played a pc game called commandos? I felt as though mgs1 ripped a few things from that game. (the awareness cones, the hiding of bodies, the levels of alertness of the guards etc) Commandos has much better gameplay of course, (and the levels and tactics were more open-ended) but mgs has the solid presentation and story to draw you right into it. (It felt like you were watching and participating in a movie) If Konami can somehow balance the elements of proper gameplay and strong characters and story, without comprmising one over the other, then it should be great. I'm sure it's possible for them to pack both into the single game.

Personally as a multiplatform owner, I would love to see this on the box. It would be interesting to see what they could pull off with it.
It took what? about 4 years to make the ps2 game? And the game to me felt kind of short. The time they save making an xbox game can be spent on more development of the actual game (adding more overall things to it) and not struggling with the hardware so much and missing the deadlines.

WHy would you think that Splinter Cell will be MUCH better than MGS3??? Have you seen and played both games to make such a judgement? There are almost no info on what WILL BE in MGS3? Who knows what changes will be introduced, especially since the game will be out AFTER SC, and might use some of the new feature introduced by SC.

And again, SC might end up being a sucky game as well. MGS2 looked great too, until we actually got to gameplay part. So lets just wait and see.

Burgundy, its all about personal taste in controllers. I personally still prefer PS2 pad to Xbox one(regular or S), and feel more comfortable with that. If you feel that Xbox pad is better for you, good :p

Look, if the game is great (which I hope) then cool, but I wasn't all that impressed by no.2 is all I'm saying. It's better to be a bit pessimistic than to get all excited and hyped for nothing (like what always happens with big name franchises that turn out average.)
