we just want the fight club back.
Y'know what? Fight club was alot of fun for a while, but real soon it became a source of real animosity between certain posters, Kenshin aside (what the hell happened to that guy, anyway? He went flat-out loony - he used to be kinda sane back in the GF Tavern days).
The boards became really negative, and if you want to know why people like Dacaz left (even me, for a while) it was because they needed to go to a place like Neomega where people can act like human beings for a breath of fresh air. There was considerable discussion on Neomega devoted to this fact. Fight Club was cool, but since it's a club, it should be members only - you have to earn the right to post there by not being a knob, and membership can be revoked if you're not mature enough to handle it.
TNL is the best place I've come across on the web to talk games with people who really know their stuff, even if there are a few Shenmue-hating troglodytes among you ;) The volume of discussion and people who know the answers to various and sundry gaming questions is unmatched, and the fact that the Gamefan/GameGo community lives on here is awesome. (It's hard to believe it's only been a year since the demise of Go!)
But I think the mods should get a little more strict with certain final-fantasy-name-number type posters. If it's obvious that somebody's either mental or a dumbass, just keeps annoying people, and isn't even funny while doing it, they should be told to take a hike, forever. The internet's a big place, they'll live without TNL. And TNL has hundreds of posters - it can certainly live without them, especially when they're on like strike 7. If you catch my drift.
And Ethugg's toned WAY down since last year. He hardly even swears anymore.
EDIT: Also, I hate it when people post "Didn't we already have this thread? " , just because somebody missed a page-and-a-half thread that was on the first page for all of four hours three weeks ago. Not everybody lives on these boards.
And I also hate Korly's sig. It's nasty. Change it already!
In another bit of irony, the irony of my statement was lost in irony.
A little bit ironic, don'tcha think?
Somebody please kill me for this.
Bahn, Nick, thanks for allowing me to be one of the TNL staff. It'll be fun bringing the community some real info-straight from the source. Of course I won't stop there. I'll be sure to show you all whatever else you might be interested in from the "gamer's paradise" itself.
Yeah, I've had my share of run-ins as well, but that's all past. More people have looked past my "style" and saw that I was really trying to contribute some worthwhile info anyway.
Overall, I have no problems here myself. I see that will always be those folks who cause problems, but as long as there's a means to deal with 'em, then it's all good.
I look forward to further being apart of the legacy that spawned from the Go! boards! :D
Sa, KOI!!!
lol Ok Ok. Well seeing as I'm the one who came up with the overall idea of Fight Club. *Under a different name which I forget* I'll probably be back modding it like I used to only this time I'm going to be a bit more of a hardass there.
One thing abotu Fight Club I like was sometimes people got some real imagination going on and started some threads about off the wall or obscure shit that made ya think twice.
I dunno what to say but I do miss it myself as well seeing as it was originally my Modship home. :D
I haven't been to Neomega all that much, but to me it seems like this board with a fraction of the activity and a lot of trying to be funny. Then again, I might have gravitated to the wrong topics. What exactly constitutes this "fresh air"? Is it because the admin atmosphere around here is too restrictive, we attract too many new posters, neither, or both?Quote:

You say there was considerable discussion on this. Was that all in one thread or all over the place? I would love to read it. I saw something over there that was little more than admin-bashing. Frankly and bluntly, that is of questionable value seeing as how flexible the management here is. Has no one seen how this board incorporates suggestions from the community? Think about it.
If you can keep a secret, I will tell you that there have been some sightings of a face from the past - one that seems to be dear to some TNL posters. It is a little reticent to show up again, and it will be a little less accessible if it does return, but I saw it peeking around the corners every now and again. But maybe it was just the shadows from my pot-bellied stove dancing on the wall.
This is not the first complaint I have heard about Zidane. I honestly thought he was gone. As I said, I have been off-an-on with these boards for months. But, as you may have noticed, I am back and thisclose to making some happy announcements (a taste is several posts above this one).Quote:

My contact information is in my profile, if anyone wants get in-depth with complaints off the boards.
You have such a cute ass Nick. :D
Yeah, and it ain't full of shit, either. :p
Hahahahahahah I certainly hope not. I would hate to think you 'Stink' at your job. :p
Especially if he's on duty!
Yes! I love that image.Quote:
"What is Regus's avatar doing in someone's sig space?" I said to myself.
but I figured it out~
Here's a quick recap for those who missed the end of Fight Club:
The original, "Hey, where did Fight Club go?!?" thread:
http://www.the-nextlevel.com/board/s...=&threadid=999
I had linked to the oringal MMC threads in that thread, but Freeserver's seems to be dead, or something.
The Official "Fight Club is no more" thread:
http://www.the-nextlevel.com/board/s...&threadid=1000
Heh, check out my Anti-MMC avatar:
http://imagehost.auctionwatch.com/pr...regus/cats.gif
And yeah, bring back Fight Club.
This used to my old browsing routine:
1. Fight Club
2. Gaming Discussion
3. Sound Off
4. Go back to step 1.
I wasn't active when Fight Club was going downhill and I've only read a few pages from Regus' FC archive links but it seems to me that bringing back FC seems like a waste of energy. The concept of it doesn't seem to get anywhere. Wow, I didn't know why Kenshin stopped posting before but I guess I do now...
Here's my opinion on the boards: Consolidate the forums, I see that the anime, art, and movie threads are posted a couple of times every other hour. I think that a majority of the artwork could be blended with the anime forum easily. And since the movie threads aren't posted as often, you could combine it with the general (other) discussion. Seems like a waste to me to have so many different section but only 5 people are posting on each one...
BTW, is there some kinda "hot forum topic of the day/week/month from each section" displayed somewhere? If it could be easily accessible from the other sections, it might encourage people to travel between different topics... I didn't know about the fanart september challenge until Rama PMed me. And others probably wouldn't have come in if I didn't link to it in my sig...
I wouldn't be opposed to making the fight club forums invite only or something like that. Just as long as Fight Club comes back...
Well as long as the animosity stays in the FC forum then I don't care...
I was a fan of the Fight Club, but it did get pretty lame after a while. There were a lot of those retarded "hey guys, let's start a fight, okay, I hate you" threads where people joked around about hating each other. Yeah, those were cool when I was five years old and thought girls were smelly, but they're not funny and they're a waste of time.
If it comes back, I'd like to see little to no moderation other than every "let's start a fake fight" thread being deleted on the spot. FC to me was just a place to directly confront certain people on specific non-gaming related topics, and it just got overdone and silly after a while.
I think StriderKyo's idea about having to meet certain criteria to have access to Fight Club is awesome. It'll keep the amount of BS to a minimum, and likely yeild much better results than the last Fight Club.
Hey! That was my idea first!
Er, um . . . I mean . . . Fight Club is dead. Let it drop.
Hmmph. StriderKyo's idea.
Hush now, Nick. It matters not who first said it, what matters is that the idea reeks of badassedness....and...
...oh yeah...bring back Fight Club. :D
*kills yawa*
eh ethugg has toned way down since last year, i don't think he should be banned though. he adds a little spice to the boards. as for fight club yeah it would be nice to have but it would just get boring or out of hand after a while and then things will start to pour over into the other forums.
*sits and waits for nicks announcments*
Ya hear that EThugg? They all think you're washed-up! You gonna take that laying down?! :jest:
Grrrr... EThugg SMASH!
Fight club isn't coming back - no matter how many of you ask for it :p
...and if it DOES. it won't be as before. that is all.
It wasn't the admins at all. It's just that basically everyone knows each other there, they don't jump down each other's throats over a slight disagreement, and people are actually nice to one another. It isn't something you guys can really control, and is really a direct result of Neomega's smaller membership. On the other hand, TNL's larger membership is what keeps things more interesting over here, and generates alot more discussion.Quote:

Like I said, it wasn't necessarily the way TNL is run, although some people did have past disagreements with Bahn. Go through the off-topic board, specifically the stuff from mid-summer. It's just that people are more relaxed and don't go out of their way to put people down over there. Nothing more, really.Quote:

If it's that fake Nick Rox again, heads are gonna roll.Quote:

At some point, you have to say enough's enough. This is what happened over the weekend:Quote:

Part one,

And the sequel:

Taken on their own they aren't the height of evil or anything, but coupled with everything that happened in the past (you do know thatstory, don't you?), sometimes you can see things aren't heading anywhere positive.
quack quack?
So what's the story on this Julie character? :) Got a link to that?
meh?
What...
*wonders why everything Nick and I posted during the downtime vanished*
You know... I was on the GG boards since they first went up. And I've been on TNL since they went down (although I did have that six month hiatus there which caused me to have to reregister here at TNL so it doesn't look like I've been around as long). Honestly I quite enjoy this community and I really don't think anything needs to change. And what's with all the anti Ethugg stuff. You know, he pisses me off all the time, although not nearly as much as he did in the GG days. In the end though, he does still make me laugh and I sure as hell think there's no reason to ban him.
BTW I'm with all the others... BRING BACK FIGHT CLUB!!!!!!
As long as Ethugg keeps his NewThugg(TM) policies intact, I don't mind him.
What does Quack mean? I'd like to know...
She doesn't exist. But damned if Zidane didn't try to make us think otherwise.Quote:

I never saw her posts, can't remember why. Maybe they were deleted.
[smartass] It's an onomatopoeia for the sound a duck makes. [/smartass]Quote:

Uh... I'm guessing the quack nonsense stemmed from Rich's "AFLAC!" remarks which conveniently ups his post count in the same vein that Pitch had his "hmmmm... lalala (:" posts... in case you're wondering the AFLAC mascot is a duck...
What the hell?? Zidanes\' SERIOUSLY got issues...Quote:

The best part of that Julie thing was how friggin' psychic dog$ was.
And Julie is too real! You're all just jealous because you don't know girls that post of message boards and hang out with kids who enter contests to recite lines from MGS2! :p

Quack!
Say, what do you think about Fight Club Horatio Sanz?
http://images.hollywood.com/images/470644.jpg
Si senor! It's very sexy, yes!
I think our good friend Horatio here speaks for the general populace. :bang:
The fat man loves Fight Club... so should you.
No, I am not refering to Santa Claus.
Santa loves it, too. Dont hate on Santa.
And Farley would were he not dead and all.
Same goes with John Candy and John Belushi.
isn't that the guy who played Fred Flintsone? :D
No, thats John Goodman. And he wants FC back, too.
:p
Artie Lange wants it back as well. Once FC died, so did his career.
hm. :)
The heavy bastards have spoken... bring it back. :)
nah
http://www.nealkendall.com/wacky/Prime.jpg
Fight Club! Transform and roll out!
Bahn: Now how can you disagree with that above me?
 LOL!!! I finally see Fat Optimus! Lord!!!
Was He ALL that you expected ? ;)

As it was said in the other thread, it's quite obvious that the fat ALF kid took an interest in Transformers cosplay at an old age.
And yup, still a virgin, too. :p
Damn, Fat Optimus must get some mad pussy...
I don't think that's really Optimus Prime......
I'm glad Fight Club is finally getting the respect it deserves.
Oh....you guys aren't talking about the movie/book....
:(
*screams like a schoolgirl*
Get! That! Hideous! Thing! Away!
He was all that and a bucket of KFC. :)Quote:
