I don't really care about the other choices, but the fact that so many Americans call a Pepsi a "coke" is just frightening.
I wonder what Coca-Cola has to say about that. If they're not careful, they could lose their trademark.
In England I think if I was down the pub and somebody asked for a Pepsi they'd get a funny look.
Regardless of brand people seem to just ask for a 'coke'.
Generic soft drinks are called either that or 'fizzy drinks', but 'up north' it is more common to call it 'pop' - definitely a regional thing.

I'm a soda man.
i call it soda, and i call pepsi pepsi
I like neither soda, nor this thread, first or second time around. :)
My apologies. I didn't realize it had been posted previously...Quote:

Soda is for the civilized.
"pop" just sounds so dorky. I grew up in Michigan saying that, but a move to California quickly mended my ways.
Saying Pop puts you directly in congress with the devil.

Soda, now and forever, unless someone pays me a whole bunch of money to call it otherwise ;)
I sincerely hope this nationwide debate doesn't come to blows or something :p
Some interesting things light pop out of this debate. Just goes to soda that the American public has a voice.
