I can't express the greatness of the Shenmue series. (Spoilers inside)

The Shenmue series is one of the best series of all time for so many reasons. I love the atmosphere that the game lets out, I feel like I really am at the Bar beating up some Mad Angels, or in Hong Kong trying to retrieve my backpack that a kid just stole from me. I love the feel of the game, for example, catching the petals falling from the tree in Shenmue 2 makes me feel like I really am some martial arts guru. It's these things that make the Shenmue series so great to me, I don't think I have played a game better than Shenmue 2, and Shenmue 1 trails close behind. If you havn't gotten either of the games yet I highly reccomend it, both games leave great experiences and gaming memories. The music is very nice too, and in Shenmue 2 it is just spectacular, games like this make me proud to own a Dreamcast, do you guys agree with me?

I realize this is your way of introducing yourself, and trying to get the attention of people. I have to say, I'm new to, but I already like you :D.

I have to say I agree, in fact part I-II are probably some of my favorite games ever. I tried to compare it the Mario series, which would be my other choice for top games, but I can't, because they're too different and excel in different ways.

Back to the game, yeah I agree, it really does feel like you're living the game. Although this was less so in part II since there's a lot of the same people walking around, it's the next best thing to going to Japan or China by yourself. And the story...I think it's something that can be appreciated by any martial artist or martial arts enthusiast. Take for example, carrying out the books everyday in Shenmue II. Some may call this boring. I think it's a good form of training the same as Ryo is going through. Training your patience and not to always hurry towards your goal. And there's also disc 4 of Mue II which I loved, a more fitting conclusion there is not.

Probably the biggest praise I can give the game is that it has changed the way I think about things. I find myself simply being more curious and content to explore things, whether it be another country or simply a street near my house I haven't walked down before. How many games can you say that about?

Not many, not many... I own shenmue, but I haven't gotten around to playing it yet >.<. I guess I'll start playing it some time soon, less I wish never to know true greatness.

Despite the dubious translation in some places, and the terrible voice acting, I really admire this game.

I didn't really get into it until over a year after its release here, even though friends told me it was good, really good. It's just didn't seem like my type of thing. I tend to gravitate toward RPG's and fighter's, and though the mix sounded somewhat interesting, I just sort of stayed away from it.

Things like the exploration of the city, which I imagined would be much larger than it actually was, sounded awesome to me though. When I finally started playing it I was a bit disappointed, but still slugged through it, and ended up enjoying it immensely.

I even sort of enjoyed collecting all the toys, though the redundancy of it eventually forced me to stop.

Shenmue II still is sitting unplayed in my pile of shame, however. I just haven't been able to bring myself to play it yet. The reason being I don't wish to get lost in it right at the beginning of the semester.

I agree Taloony, the thing that is amazing about Shenmue 1 is that despite all of its flaws (theres alot) it is still an incredible game and one of the best offerings on the Dreamcast, that's saying alot.

In my day, we didn't actually look inside drawers in games. a little pop up window would tell us what was in the drawer, and that was good enough, dagnabit! you damn kids and your "realistic" exploration~
