They all look great.
Orta has a ground level like Zwei did!
And the helicopter in Shinobi is certainly reminiscent of Black Turtle.
That they do, that they do.Quote:

I just realized that Sega might be bastards and add horrible English-speaking voice acting for the Shinobi cinemas. I seriously hope it's subtitled.
I seriously hope it's subtitled.
As do I. I beat Devil May Cry the other day...dear god.
looking closely at that Eternal Arcadia movie, I saw alot of new parts...like maybe a "EEVVVVVIIILL" version of Vyse, Aika and Fina. Good stuff, happy to see my favorite game of all time getting another shot at fame.

Shinobi looks incredible, even more so, watching those air dashes among enemies ala Sonic Adventure. But that camera... holy Jesus does that camera look absolutely horrible. It might be even worse then DMCs, especially since it follows you, but seems to be programmed to avoid showing the ground.
"I want 90 degree angles on that thing at all times!" -Director of Shinobi, regarding the camera.
PDO looks amazing. Absolutely amazing. I mean, holy dear God... and that gigantic green boss (I think it was a boss) was friggin' sweet!
Yep I repeat PDO is pants wetting.
Shinobi looks pretty good too and the flow of the game looks real smooth. As for the camera, form what I remember you have 1 stick to control the guy and the other stick to point the camera and it is fast and responsive (which is exaclty how I wanted the upcoming ninja gaiden to be all those years ago when they announced it) so no worries there.
 Are you serious?! SWEET TASTY JESUS ON RYE! I wanted this game before, but it just shot way up my list of love! Thank you so frickin' much for that info!Quote:

Whoo!
And it's a pure action game not an adventure with things to collect. (don't all third person games turn out that way? I'm sick of it. forget puzzles and items, concentrate on action. I find those things to slow it down.)
from an old edge: (sums it up well)
Quote:
The fluidity of movement in the main character is particularly noteworthy. While the left stick controls movement, the right swiftly rotates the camaera and the view of the playfield remains in the player's control at all times. A standard attack, jump, dash and shuriken throw are performed with the four main DualShock buttons. L1 centres the cameras while R1 locks-on to nearby enemies.
Control mechanics lecture over - Shinobi is already playing like a class act, with the emphasis firmly on fluid action and impressive combos. The lock-on and dash features are a core element of the gameplay: string several attacks together and ghost trace follows your hero around the screen, and striking an enemy unawares is more efficient than a frontal assault. Chain successfully and a kanji guage appears on the top right of the display to indicate the strength of the combo. Well executed cut-scenes show the devastation you have just reaped, with the hero sliding his weapon back into place while enemies fall to pieces(literally) around him. Chained attcks cause victims to appear onscreen, dark and petrified as if time is suspended. The effect can be quite awe-inspiring.
On action/adv ratios
The next paragraph talks about magic and such.Quote:
Uriu-san's penchant for pure action is evident in everything he says, "Many people are speaking about action/adventure games but to me, current titles are offering 40 percent action and 60 per cent adventure. I don't think this is really enjoyable, so we decided to set the balance to 80/20 for Shinobi. There are tons of characters in the game, but I can't reveal to you what kind of character you will be able to play in addition to the main one. Of course, every stage ends with a boss - I missed the fun we had during the Megadrive and Super Famicom days when you had very surprising stage structure and gigantic bosses. In today's games we have cool characters but there is something missing. What I want to input into shinobi is pure action."
but the next bit talks about the camera, locking on, and balance:
Anyway the interview shows that they are really thinking about controls (also the cam in relation to it) and balance and the style, the things I find self rewarding about action games. Not how many modes, or how long the game lasts, or how many weapons etcetc which most developers seems to highlight. It's not a contest for dot points, length and features, but getting the basics right so the experience of playing your game is self-rewarding and exciting to want to pick up and play in the first place.Quote:
Although impressive in essence, Shinobi's good name may be tanrnished if a quality 3d camera fail to make the final cut. Predictably Uriu-san is confident that he has cracked the problem. "Like Zelda you can lock on to your enemy, so your character turns around him. We designed the hero's attacks with the lock-on feature always in mind. Regarding game speed, I was not satisfied by the games currently on the market, so we gave the character a very high motion speed. We spend a lot of time adjusting the game balance so the speed would be used properly during the game and would actually become one of the player's tools when facing the opposition. You may be surprised by what kind of cool actions you can perform."
That's what it looked like, I was hoping they wouldn't pull that crap like DMC did ("Watch the trailers, it's all action! So why am I now running around looking for this stupid item to place in this other area? Oh yeah, they needed a reason to artifically lengthen the game so reviewers wouldn't complain about that part."). Another reason I love Gungrave.Quote:

Man, that camera sounds so bad-ass. I'm pumped!
All three trailers were awesome. I hadn't seen any footage of Shinobi before, so it was neat seeing that.
Ahhh Finally the good shyt finally starts showing up!!
Holy crap!
Is it me, or did I just see a BUNCH of new stuff in the Skies of Arcadia trailer?
If they didn't change any of the battle mechanics like they initially talked about, I'm gonna be so *deads* over this...
The developers have said that they will be adding new plot elements to expand on the characters pasts and such, so that's why you see the new areas.
Wow, That sounds great. I never the person to complain about action in my action games, and good to hear that Sega doing the right thing :)
Shinobi will have about 12 levels, and each level will have 2 bosses to fight. They will be of Ninja and Demon kinda, and some supposed to be huge.
I've read stuff, but I didn't think they'd be adding that much.Quote:

Shinobi is gawd. That is all.
Damn it sucks to be a Sega fan.......
CAUSE I CAN'T AFFORD ALL THREE CONSOLES!!!!
Shinobi has always been one of my favorite action games. Shinobi III was godly back in the day, and still is. It's not enough to warrant a PS2 right now, but maybe when it hits $99 or so. But I don't think I can wait that long...... :(
Skies is my second favorite RPG of all time (just right behind PDS), so any opportunity to play through this version would be heavenly. I just need the funds for a GC....... :( :(
Orta is........well.............
THANK YOU SMILEBIT!!!! YOU ARE MY GAMING GODS RIGHT NOW!!!!
This has to be my most wanted game right now, if not of all time. Panzer is one of Sega's only franchises to not have a single drop in quality from game to game, and I do believe this will continue. The extra two month wait is KILLING ME!!!
God, my Sega Fanboy just came out. Git back from whence you came!!
I just watched the Shinobi & Orta vids, & I have two words -
HOLY SHIT!
My shinobi excitement level just took a huge leap & Orta = the most beautiful game I have ever seen.
I'm so glad I have all the systems.
JM
I envy you.Quote:

Then buy PS2. Whats the problem? Its not like it cost a fortune now days, and there are TON of games for it out allready and coming this Fall/Winter.
It's not that simple, since I don't have the money. I just got an X-Box in the summer, and I only got Halo and Gun Valkyrie. Granted, these two games (especially Halo) has been enough for me, but only owning two games for three months kinda sucks. Besides, I have always only had the money and patience to only support one console a generation. I still play the others, like from borrowing from friends and stuff. That might change, when I can actually find a job, but for now, I'm sticking to it.
EDIT: That is, of course, unless you, Despair, or some of the other members of this fine establishment known as TNL can donate money to my non-profit charity "Help this piss poor gamer get a PS2 and GC".
No? Okay, I tried. :(
PD Orta :o
Shinobi :o
Skies Legend :o
The Skies one almost brought a tear to my eye. God I love that game.
SEGA still rules.

Amen to that. :DQuote:

All of a sudden I'm doubting if Ninja Gaiden will be able to stand up to Shinobi.
I was never a big Shinobi fan (which is odd because I've always been a huge fan of Sega's arcade games. Shinobi just never seemed all that special to me) but the new one looks fantastic. I don't like the beat-em-up/hack-n-slash genre, but Shinobi seems to rise above it and deliver something fast and smooth. If the challenge is good, the game is going to be absolutely fantastic. I can't wait. The game looks like everything DMC should have been but wasn't.
And let's be real here. From the gameplay movies I've seen of Ninja Gaiden it's absurd to think it even has a chance to live up to Shinobi. It's nothing but standard beatemup fare, the kind that got old a long time ago.
Has there even been any gameplay footage released for Ninja Gaiden?
Yeah, the movie at Microsoft's booth at the last E3. Ninja Gaiden looked pretty bland and boring at the time. Hopefully Tecmo will use the full power of their Sega Imitating Skills™ on this one.Quote:

All three get the offical "blowjob smiley"... :o
It is so great to be a gamer right now.
Tecmo's not all bad. Fatal Frame is the scariest and best survival horror game to date.
Personally, I'd prefer all-new games to remakes, sequels, and re-releases, but all three of these look very nice.
Wow.
Orta finally gets my "sexiest thing ever displayed in pixels" mark, and Shinobi is everything I could ask for.
And now, with the announcement of Marz, I'm putting every other purchase on hold until I have a PS2.
Sweet mother, DLed SoA at around 350kb/s, Panzer around 400 kb/s.....and Shinobi at 100 kb/s. Nice freaking speeds!
and Shinobi looks damn sexy for a game I thought I\'d never have any interest in, and that tune to the clip of it is addicting.:P
I cant wait to see the shinobi vs ninja gaiden thread when the games come out!
That wasn't gameplay footage.Quote:
Yeah, the movie at Microsoft's booth at the last E3.
Certainly looked like it. The animations (and the chopping thereof), the movement, it all looked in-game. They had some cut-scenes interspersed but most looked like gameplay footage.Quote:

Out of curiousity, what makes you say otherwise?
*awaits smartass response of it, "Because it's not gameplay footage"*
I'm not denying it was in-game, as in generated by the game's engine.
I'm saying it wasn't footage of the game being played. Game-Play.
Ah. But still a demo of how it will play, right? Much like the Orta and Shinobi videos.
PDO and Shinobi look amazing. Never liked Skies of Arcadia so I'm not really interested in it, but maybe they'll make some positive changes. And yes, having all the systems is truly a great thing :D.
The NG trailer struck me as a tech demo for the engine and, at best, a rough approximation of how it might play. The Orta and Shinobi videos are done of games that are very near completion and are basically gameplay footage without the HUD.
But fuck, that's not even my point. My point is that a statement like this:...is all sorts of ridiculous, especially so early in the game.Quote:

Alright, I can live with that.
OXM October 2002 issue - you will find some nice info on Ninja Gaiden in there that will make it like the old-school Ninja Gaiden games -- aka platforming elements. Do not expect a beat-em-up here.
- Kabuki
Hmm... I'm actually even warier about that now. 3D platforming is a tricky business...
Not surpisingly PDO looks amazing and makes that delay hurt a bit more. I don't quite care about the new Shinobi at this point and Skies can go to hell. That is all.
Excellent. You've renewed my interest in the game. Tecmo might still screw it up, but at least they'll screw it up doing something different than Shinobi.Quote:

This is another direct feed movie of Orta. It's in asx format, so I don't know if you can download it to your hardrive? If someone knows how, please, PLEASE, I BEG OF YOU, tell me how.
Wow, I'm so psyched for this game, it hurts!! Do you hear the music in this video?!?!? I want this game JUST for the music, as I know it will be more excellence from the Panzer universe.
My GAWD, January can't come soon enough.........
There's also this and this, which are House of the Dead III videos. I haven't watched them yet, as I have the Orta video on loop.....!!!!!!
damned asx files! Freeze up after 5 seconds of tantilization.
At least it sounded beautiful :sweat:Quote:

I think its safe to say that Panzer Dragoon Orta will be one of the best games ever made.
Yeah, I can pull an EThugg and guarantee you that it will be.
*trying the asx file again*

I'm sorry. That link was for broadband only. Try this link
Oh, and the HOTD III vids for 56K'ers are HERE AND HERE.
You might wanna go to the Seag home site and to their Toe Jam & Earl section, they have a whole new site devited to it, with a movie and music too. Good stuff!!
Here's the direct link for those too lazy to go themselves.
Have fun!
I'm on broadband though
OOPS! Then I don't know what to say........
Except: :(
Tis ok, I saw the 56k version and its nothing I haven't seen, so no big deal ^_^
Okay, Cool.
This site, http://www.newtechnix.com/index.php3, also has LOTS of different videos from different games on different consoles, not just from TGS, but for a whole plethora of different occasions. It's in french, so using a site that translated foreign languages is best, but just go to downloads on the left side, choose your system, and BOOM, you got your gaming videos.
Me too :sweat:Quote:

Here is another PD Orta clip that I believe is new, from a member of GA.
Every time I see something from the snowstage I get all fuzzy inside

Edit: Shit its old, but atleast you can rightclick and save it, I couldnt do that with the one allready posted.
Edit2: Damn Im stupid, Ill shut up now.
You guys need to stop teasing me with the PDO videos. I'm going to have a heart attack. 2003 can't get here any sooner.
Shinobi and Skies look great too. If only I had not played Skies before.
I just hope they dont make NG too DOAish.
xS - as long as Kasumi doesn't take over the main role, you'll be fine ;)
I knew Orta was good-looking, but damn, that is crazy!! Really unbelievable. Shinobi looks solid, too. Maybe, just maybe, all that Sega fanboyism is justified...
