Animal Crossing Question

I've been keeping half an eye on the existing threads, but am trying not to discover too much so things will still surprise me. I.E.: sorry for the excessive thread but it's gone as soon as I get an answer.

I got the game, I started a game, I got the mail from Nintendo, I finished up Nook's initial batch of chores, I opened the mail and gift to get the grab bag. How do I open the grab bag up? Please don't say "just open it," give a step by step. I've figured out how to do everything else in this game so I'm starting to doubt my own incompetence and wondering if it's some sort of glitch. Unless I still need something (a TV?) before the option for opening the grab bag becomes available.

Go in the house, then just move the present over to your inventory after selecting the mail.

That puts the grab bag into my inventory. Then what?

edit: Alternatively, maybe I put it into my inventory when I was not in my house.. I can't remember.. that shouldn't make a difference though, so long as I have the grab bag in my item menu/inventory right?

Precisely. In order to play the games, you must be in your house. You don't need anything but the game to play it. Hell, I play the NES games on an orange crate.

OK, my mom (who is addicted to the game) figured it out. I don't know what she did that was different then what I was doing, but she opened it. DK Math, pinball and K.K. love song. Thanks for the help Jay, but I was stuck earlier then you thought I was. Strange I know. I had the grab bag in my inventory (not the games) and it wouldn't open. I didn't realize it came with three things, maybe I had too much stuff and my pockets couldn't hold the unopened bag.

You have to open the grab bag when *not* in your house. I bet your mom left your house before trying to open the bag.

I heard retail copies of this game come with an instruction booklet.

I stole the rental instruction booklet and returned it when I returned the rental.

I also have a question... (I just bought the game and didn't play it by the way.. [still at work] :) ) anyway, the question is: Do you need the e-reader to gain access to the NES games? I really hope not and is getting more nes games through the password system possible? Also, umm........ if someone posts up a password for a certain item, can't someone else just get the password too and also obtain the same object? If so, why is knowing the other's name and town's name so important? (clear some things for me please)

Sorry for posting in here and not the official one, but that one is getting too long for its own good and I don't have the time to go through it right now to see if anyone already answered such questions.

You don't need the eReader to gain access to the NES games, at least as far I know. The NES eReader cards are completely independent from the NES games found in Animal Crossing - meaning that the NES cards you see at stores now play on the eCard reader and do not upload to AC. It's possible that Nintendo will eventually release AC eCards that unlock NES games in AC, but that's just speculation.

You answered the second question yourself. Codes are unique to the name and town of the recipient. You could use a code addressed to me - but only if you had the same name and town as I do.
