GTA: Vice City, Suikoden 3, and Contra all in the same WEEK?!
Somebody up there loves us and wants to torture us with all that goodness at the same time :D
Vice City and Contra are perfect compliments to one another due to their varying style, so this is perfect.
Damn. I guess I will be too busy playing Contra to hand out Halloween candy this year...
Kids should'nt eat so much candy anyways.
Push that shit back I say. Companies need to learn how to space out their releases or something to help allieviate consumer wallets.
It's been that date on the site for a while now.
I SOOOO can't wait for Suik 3!
Its Vice City, Contra, Suikoden 3 and Red Faction 2 in ONE WEEK !!!
PS2 Gaming overload !!!
I posted the Contra release date in the "What's coming out in October" thread. So yeah, enjoy boys, there's plenty of games to go around this holiday season. ;)
I just want Contra... nothing else matters.
Good gravey! I could care less about Suikoden 3 and Red Faction 2 though, but man too much on one day! Plus Tony Hawk 4 comes out that day as well, not that I will be getting it. But thats another monster game that will eat up sales of a game thats more deserving. But I feel that the Tony Hawk craze is really starting to fade, but you never know.
Damnit! I was interested in Ninja Assault as well, and that comes out the same day too!!! Jesus fucking crist! The game industry has gone mad!
I mean are they trying to see if they can beat out Vice City?! Because they won't, GTA:VC is going to eat them all up and spit them out. As much as I like Contra, its only going to hurt it self by coming out on the same day. Poor move Konami.
Here's a solution, give up gaming, live in the mountains and find spirtitual inner peace...
suikoden or contra? tough question.
in suikoden 2, did it make THAT big of a difference if you didn't play the first?
Not so much.Quote:

You just missed alot of in-jokes, and the backstory on some of the reoccuring characters.
I had no clue Tony Hawk 4 came out that day, wooooo!
At least I know that by the end of October, I'll be broke and failing classes. Contra: Shattered Soldier, Suikoden III, and FF1+2 LE pack.
You can probably get 95% of the storyline out of the game having not played the first. Suikoden II is technically a direct sequel to the first game, and has alot of reoccuring characters, but their links to the first game, storyline-wise, aren't that strong. Suikoden II is still, for the most part, and independant installment in a series.Quote:

Though, the first Suikoden can be had for like $15 these days, and takes only about 20 hours to complete, so it couldn't hurt to play through it beforehand.
I thought a lot of the charm of Suikoden II was the fact that it had a so many references to part one...I can't imagine playing one without the other.
Woohoo, can't wait for III, just hope it doesn't dissappoint like other Konami PS2 sequels. IGN is running a feature on all 108 stars this week but I'm not gonna go near it.
Fuck yeah! House of the Dead 3 and Contra on the same day!
Let me put it this way: Should i jump into the series at suikoden 3?
Indeed. I'll probably finally get around to picking up a PS2 due to Suikoden III's release. It's an absolute must-have for me.Quote:

I would say no. I don't know who's returning, I've tried to stay away from that, but you're likely to miss all sorts of references and in jokes ala Suik.II-->Suik. I. If that's something you can deal with, then no big deal. You could easily jump into II without playing I and have no problem at all with the story.Quote:

As for Suik. III. Looks like I'll have to buckle and finally grab a PS2.:sneak:
Oh, sweet Jebus, forgot about that one too.Quote:

So GTA: Vice City, Suikoden 3, Contra, Red Faction 2, and House of the Dead 3 in the same week.
Lock yourselves in your rooms and throw away the key! :D
No. Alot of the characters' stories are setup in the previous game. In the first, it's never exactly said who Clive's after, Why Pesmerga wants to kill Yuber, and what Lorelai's searching for. These stories are all follwed in the second game. Then there's the fact that there are certain characters who won't be alive in the second without a save from the first. And that many stories set off in the second are followed in the third (what exactly happened in Harmonia with Georg? Will McDohl take over the Toran Republic? What was the deal with the Sindar?). In Suikoden I think you have a series which would lose alot of it's charm if you don't care about certain characters after having followed their stories through the first two.Quote:

Neither one's extremely long, and both are excellent, so I'd recommend playing through them if you really want to enjoy part III. It'll still be there when you're done.
Wasn't HOD3 pushed back till next year?
I dont know if that got officially confirmed Green.
Nope, it's still on target for (October?) regular release. Plus it's confirmed that HotD2 will be playable.Quote:
