Paperboy

Surely, there cannot be many gamers here who haven't played this game in some form since it came out on so many different console and computer formats. The Playstation version on Atari Collection 2 is the closest to the arcade version but it still lacks the handlebar controller.

For those that don't know, Paperboy was a 1984 Atari Games release in which you controlled a paper delivery boy. The object of the game was to throw papers into mailboxes and doorsteps while avoiding various obstacles like lawnmowers, cars, cats, breakdancers, etc. At the end of each level, there was an obstacle course with ramps and targets.

This game had a sequel by Mindscape which appeared on the NES, Genesis, Super Nintendo and Game Boy. I haven't played it. Is it any good?

Midway released a polygon version for the N64. I hear it sucks but I haven't played it either.

So who's a fan?

I liked it when I was 7 years old but the poor thing has aged terribly. It's a neat concept and a great example of the creativity and risk taking that you rarely see nowadays.

I played alot of the DC Midway compiltaion that's sort of scarce now.

The SNES seemed ok but not as good as the original...

You better believe I'm a fan.

I always liked the little obstacle course at the end of each day's run, even though I finished it probably only twice in my life.

I also liked how, if you missed a delivery to a subscriber, they cancelled the next day and became fair game for vandalism points.

I always thought it was pretty cool, but I didn't base a new religion off of it like a lot of people seem to have.

Some people I talk to defend and praise the game like it was a member of their own family, and I never quite understood why.

this game was interesting, but I didn't play it often, and sucked at it.

yup. that was cool, and I would fail very often.

It's a good game, and I loved it a decade ago. Now... eh, the DC compilation game thing showed me that it's aged badly.

I always hated it oddly enough.

I remember playing it in the arcade and trying to like it, but it just never really excited me...

Paper Boy came out in 1984!?! Wow do I feel old. However, that game has passed the test of time with flying colors.

thats is one of my favortie games ever, i remeber play it on my genesis for hours on end.
