I want to go. What's Magfest? =P
Its an east coast video game convention. It starts tomorrow. www.magfest.org
This is MAGfest. I'll be there. I'll be staying in the Sleep Inn next door to the Holiday Inn where the event will be held.
I am with a couple of friends. I will only be there Saturday morning through Sunday morning, here's my basic schedule:
- perhaps entering the fighting Ironman contest to get my ass kicked
- do a little MST3King of theStreet Fighter Movie
- check out the panel discussions for the Minibosses and Jake Kaufman
- just generally chilling until the concert
- Concert with the Minibosses! Woo!
- After the concert, I will probably be tired and stupid enough to participate in the Karaoke (come on guys, who's with me?!)
- followed by staying up until 2 in the morning SOLELY to watch Captain N the Gamemaster
I'm staying at the hotel there, me and my friends got our own room. As far as I know, the party is wherever the Minbosses are, since they said they were throwing a party on their message board I think. Party or no, follow them around, and I guarantee you'll find a place to get drunk. If any of you guys are in the area I'll be at (and want to hang out with a 16 year old nerd :p), I may be wearing a green Minibosses shirt (the one with the comic on it, no real distinguishing logo) depending on how soon I talk to Aaron while I'm there, if not that I imagine either my black In Flames shirt or a gray and black Camp Kill Yourself shirt.
Hope I see you guys there!
i want....... uhhh...

I'll be damned. I wish I would have known sooner.
ha ha ha im saving that pic thugg, thats hilarious
I wanted to go but my friends are all impoverished bastards. Ben, stop being a dishwasher. Kyle, get a damn job allready!
Have fun guys, and givem hell. I'll try harder to be there next year.
I'd love to go, but I'm in Texas and have school and work
Have fun guys!
Well, If I only lived on East coast, and didnt had to work :)
Hm, that's about a 3 hour drive from here. (I assume)
If I had a license (damn 17 age) you can be sure that I would be there, but looks like no Magfest for Rich.
Can't make it, which really pisses me off.
dam its only 3 hours away, if i knew i would skip skool, oh well. i'll just stay in the dc area and hit it up next time.
88, aren't Chux and Korly going to be attending as well?
Korly is, Chux is not. We are gonna be leaving about 10:00pm tonight which will get us there around 2am on friday.
Party time.
Sounds cool and stupid at the same time. Cool because the events sound great but stupid because the location sucks and 30 dollars is way too much for me. 20 for a 3 day sounds better.
Anyway, since it already started, how is it so far?
It is like SO lame so far.
Like, 88mph has NINETY percent more videogames in his basement than the video game room, and all dealer rooms combined.
ANd our hotel room doesnt have AV inputs on the TV, so I can't play my Animal Crossing.
Is anyone else here? I'm typing on the computer in the hotel lobby right now.
So far, my highlight of the weekend was driving with 88 (josh), Steve, Pat, and Anthony on the quest for the fabled Taco Bell/ Pizza Hut hybrid shop.
Man, that sucks. Any decent events going on so far? Do they at least have an NES?!
Any luck with the Pizza Hut/Taco Bell Combo? I have also heard of the mysterious buildings. DO THEY EXIST??Quote:

I've got one down the block from me, just hate Taco Bell so I never go. (Not to mention there are literally 4 other pizza places on that block that are better)Quote:

Well, I'm home now.
And, I did in fact find the fabled Taco Hut.
My scathing account of my time at Magfest is coming. Tomorrow perhaps...
The Hybrid shop does exist.
Magfest was pretty weak, we left early and got a refund on our hotel room.
I never got around to entering any tournaments since I contracted some sort of plague from a truckstop sandwich. Sucks, b/c from what I saw I could have owned the CVS2 tourney.
The dealers room was a joke. They had one Japanese DC game, which I bought and promptly returned after it didn't work.
And just in case any of you were wondering, Burgundy and I are the greatest DDR players in the entire world...
Oh, and I forgot to mention, I am now, officially, "King of the World".
I won the Magfest Tekken 4 tournament.
I'm fairly certain that most of the people at that "Video Game Convention" have never played a videogame.
The "Video Game Rave" haunts me still...
You guys left too early. The Minibosses owned and the 1Up Mushrooms kicked ass. I picked up a Famicom today, as well - I sure as hell didn't see it last night. I might even buy an SMS (the old one) tomorrow. But otherwise, the dealer's room was pretty weak - between what 88 and I had in our trunks (*and* were looking to unload) we could have put together a passable dealer table.
*goes back to playing Gradius and looking for Rick*
And Korly - next time you're at a public computer, you should log out. ;)
Someone needs to move that shit to a major city.
you jest! :jest:Quote:

Well, thanks. Now I know that I only missed the Minibosses.
Just wanted to add...
3 hours...Quote:

...in a freaking Delorean, maybe.
Shoulda driven down with 88.
Lol, more like 6 hours. Didn't realize how far. But from what it seems, I didn't miss very much. :)
Haha, that's some pretty funny stuff.Quote:

Yeah, on the ride home I thought about that...
But then I figured I'd check out what all the Korly impersonators would say.
And, that dude selling the SMS is the same guy that sold 88 the broken Toukon Restuden 4 for the DC.
And, I whooped his sorry ass Lei in the T4 tournament. :sneak:
I thought about buying that Famicom, but realized that it would just get stuffed in my closet, along with everything else.
If they are giving out free blowjobs from supermodels at the door of Magfest 2003, I am still not going to go.
And that sums up Magfest 2002. :PQuote:

there is a taco bell/ pizza hut hybrid in my town, jay can vouch for me.
Well I have one down the block, your beat!

It's irrelevant, but I still enjoy posting it in random spots once in a while. :)
I had a good time. But I don't if I'd drive as far as you guys did. I think the concert may have changed your opinion.Quote:

burg, I found the fact that you couldn't find me simply astounding.
The highlight of the MAGfest was definately the concert. I don't go to gaming conventions at all, seeing the Minibosses was my sole purpose for taking an 8 hour car ride at 3:30 in the morning. I can honestly say I had a good time, the vendors and game room were quite lackluster, but I wasted hours playing with NesterDC and won the Samba De Amigo tourney. Not to mention nothing beats being surrounded in a room of smart asses at 4 in the morning who have nothing better to do but make fun of Captain N and the Sonic the Hedgehog anime. The concert made the whole thing worth it, well, the concert and Jake Kaufman.
The Wizard was the best movie I've ever seen.
I am the KING OF THE WORLD!!!!!!!!!!
I would also like to add that never in my life have I felt cool... until opening ceremonies at Magfest.
I saw the biggest gang oof losers I have ever seen in my entire life.
Fanboy one: "The series totally (pant pant) went down in quality (pant pant)after six."
Fanboy two: "Yeah, Final Fantasy ten sucked."
Dork Commander at podium: "Hey, it had a decent battle system!"
Psuedo spooky stereotypical Gothic girl: "Yeah, and Lulu's character design was awsome!"
Sack of shit: "Do you think that Cloud could beat up Squall?"
But seing these bastards twitch around like epileptic snapping turtles while the "All Your Base Are Belong To Us" song played really took the cake.

I think I just pissed my pants.
Believe me, I wish we had a video camera. It was funny/pathetic as hell.
Damn, I'm so sorry I missed that wonderful convention guys... :)
Seriously next year maybe your cars will break down and you won't even THINK about it. Hooray Broke Cars!
Seriously, if someone had actually recorded footage of that "AYBABTU" thing, it would join the live-action Ogre Battle as one of the funniest/most disturbing piecies of footage in internet history.
It sounds hilarious. Good stuff. Thanks.
Almost makes me sad I wasn't there for Friday's festivities. :(
Woo!
Happy that I didn't go. Thanks for the impressions everybody.
*has a Pizza Hut/Taco Bell like ten minutes from his house btw*
I'm with burg though, the con itself was fairly lame but the concert on Saturday night made it all worth it.
I'm in Wisconsin so it would of been a substantial trip to get out there.
I have a feeling after taking time of work, getting there, spending money on a hotel, that a concert hardly would of salvaged the con for me.
Me neither.
It's comin' back around again...
