This is a list of the top 100 most challenged books in America.
What scares me is that the Anarchist Cookbook is lower than A Light In The Attic. And WTF is Where's Waldo doing on that list???:wtf:

Wow, when I was in elementary school, I used to read these books all the time. I can see why they would want to get rid of them, seeing as it had stories about little girls getting bit by spiders, and then have baby spiders burst out of their faces.Quote:
1. Scary Stories (Series) by Alvin Schwartz
For some reason, I feel like reading every one of those books.
This is fucked up, plain and simple. If you don't like it, don't read it. That's the way it should be. It's great how people love to tell others how to go about things in their own lives... <end rant>
Those scary story books by Alvin Schwartz kicked so much f'ing ass. Not only were the stories scary but the illustrations that go with the stories were terrifying.Quote:

I remember going camping when I was little and we listened to the audio cassettes of the book. Too cool.

Daddy's roomate, was a top..
while signiefectly bellow was
Heather's Two mommies....
most of those books i read in high school...
Eh, bunch of conservatives bitching, what else is new?
Alvin Shwartz. He had a sequel to the book called "More Scary stories"
My fave was "Bloody Finger" where the hippie eventually tells the bloody hand hanging in his closet to "Get a bandaid dude!"
But seriously, those books fucked me over as a kid and changed me forever.
hell yeah, those books were cool as hell. the story about the spiders bursting out of the girls face(in the shower right?) is the one I've remembered specifically. damn. . . hell, I tracked down a copy of Maniac Mcgee to re-read(and given the type of character he is, I can say that my tastes haven't changed much at all even from when I first read that in 3rd grade), so's I suppose I can look up the scary story books.
WOW!
Shel Silverstein?
I guess Hungry Mungry, Channels, Sick and even Peanut Butter Sandwich are more controversial stories than they appear...
