Very smooth.
Very.
Mmm.
it's still lcd no matter which way you flip it...
heh. i was just about to post a topic about this. i'm looking for a pivoting vga monitor (non-lcd). does anyone have any suggestions besides this? ..preferably something that wouldn't require importing.
LCD rocks you and ya all know it.
I play my Ikaruga through my 18in LCD monitor, thank you very much. Although it doesnt pivot, I do turn it on it's side, it is just a little hard :)
It rotates the wrong way on that hinge. Sorry to spoil the fun, but you are gonna have to mount it some other way to play in TATE.
PS: LCD sucks if its very low quality because of the motion blur. With high quality monitors it isn\'t as bad. Whether this one is good or not has yet to be seen.
I would slaughter an army of ninjas, such as the one I am currently in the process of slaughtering, just to have that magnificent video display item.
Ummm, OK.
You fucking rock. Teach me your ninja-slaughtering ways.Quote:

See, I have never really notice motion blur ever on my screen (with quite a bit of gaming, including FPSers). The only way I ever get "motion blur" is if I take a window and move it insainly all over my screen.Quote:

I've seen a macintosh monitor that could pivot, and I'm pretty sure it can be used as a VGA monitor as well, since the two standards(VGA/old mac)are basically the same thing but with different plugs.Quote:

As far as LCDs go, the better ones that operate at or above 75Hz refresh rate have no noticeable motion blur.
75Hz is what mine is at!!! And it is lovely!
You must have a "good one". Again, I have nothing against LCDs.
silly Tain, you can't slaughter ninjas...cause they possess REAL ULTIMATE POWER!!!...Quote:

heh.. love that site..
Do not visit that Real Ultimate Ninja site, for all you are doing is further supporting the cause of those vile, throat-slitting beasts that you call "ninjas." If I could, I would fight them all to the death, but alas, I am currently tying my shoes. I will continue my quest for vengeance afterwards.
Apparently, these ninjas are the equivalent of online "type killers," as they are not giving me the opportunity to tie these nice, brand-new shoes I had just purchased in the middle of fighting them. They will now learn how pain feels when delivered from an untied shoe-wearing giver of ninja death.
I apologize for taking this thread way off topic, but the ninjas do not understand.
pirates are so lame...
How long does it take you to tie your shoes?
omfgninjas = Member of EVERY moment!!!
Or at least the delusional member of every moment. ;)
Actually I believe the response time is the most important factor in determining if there is ghosting while playing games. From what I have read, you want a total response time (rise+fall) of 25 ms or less for the best results. Cheap LCDs today often have a 50 ms response time which is much slower.Quote:

"Just like other mammals, ninjas can be mean OR totally awesome."
My uncle used to have one of those monitors - he owned a desktop publishing business, and that monitor was designed for viewing a whole page layout at once. The neatest part was that the Mac kept the image steady as you rotated the screen, so the text would stay right-side up even when the monitor was diagonal :)Quote:

We still have the screen - my grandfather uses it on his PC. It works fine as a PC monitor, but you probably can't do anything above 800x600.
One big problem, though: the monitor flips the wrong way! It turns clockwise, instead of counterclockwise like most arcade screens. I'm sure this'd be fine for MAME, but it wouldn't work with Ikaruga :(

I beat you to that punch Matt. But he is right, it rotates the wrong way.
Also of note, make sure you check the optimal resolution for the LCD you buy. My friend has an LCD that has an optimal resolution of 1280xwhatever and when playing DC games it cuts off a good portion of the picture. With LCDs you can't always adjust the picture the same way. Just a heads up.
