i wasn't aware there was already a gameshark for GC.
this is unclear to me.. is only the US version cancelled, or both the US and jap versions?
Wading through a hundred pages....not a good idea.
I have two big questions. How likely is the GC port becoming? I know there are rumors that it'll be out in Japan but not here, That it may not even come out at all, etc. Where's the truth in this, or better yet, when is the GC Ikaruga supposed to come out?
Second question is - how good is Ikaruga, honestly? From a shooter fan to another, but from a shooter fan to one who's pretty strapped for cash and doesn't need to buy something he'll play a few times and then retire for 6 months.
Reason I ask is I know where I can get a DC copy right now, but I don't know if I should wait, or if I should even get it at all, DC or GC.
If you don't like shooters in the first place and your not the kind of person who goes for high scores, beating the game in one credit, and chaining, don't get the game. Because once you beat it (which will take under an hour) there isn't much else to do.
Otherwise, yes, this is one of the best shooters I have ever played with amazing boss battles and a great gameplay system. Get this game now!
Domestic only, apparently. The import is good to go for the 15th, I suppose.
Yes, Ikaruga is a good game. If you like replaying games to improve your skills, Iky is for you. It will eat your ass raw the first few times, but you'll find yourself gradually improving over a long period of time.
It's a shooter unlike any I have ever really seen or played, so if you're looking for something new, get it.
Plain English.
i would go for the dreamcast version, if only for the godly vga display. it's not clear if the cube port will support progressive scan.
Is this thread huge or what???;)
If I can add my $0.02, I think that Ikaruga is well worth getting for anyone who loves a challenging game. For me, it's all about maxing out my chains.....aiming for higher scores each game. However, there's NO way I can go through Stage 2 w/o losing ships....I just can't. Challenging, for sure.:D
EGM suggests Ikaruga isn't coming out in the US, I expect the game will come here eventually (guessing summer or fall).
As far as ports go, the Gamecube version has a slow mode (game runs at 50% speed) and the internet ranking board. So if you don't plan to mod your Cube, you're really not missing out on much by picking up the DC rev.
As far as Ikaruga the game, I love it. Unlike Radiant Silvergun where you have to learn chaining to get anywhere, Ikaruga can be played as a pure blaster or a chain-a-thon. Beautiful graphics, a very fitting musical score, and great design and artwork. My only problem is it's length, but that's a minor fault. *-neo
