It has the same practice mode as the DC version. It does have the new conquest mode, but I don't find that to be much more helpful than the Practice mode. You can have all the demo videos, and strategies in the world, and still not come close to 30 million. Thinking you can just watch a pro and then play like them in a couple months is sorta silly, it's like watching some martial arts master and saying "oh, since I've seen him do it, I can do it now too!". With enough time and determination certainly anything is possible, but 30 million in 2 months? I doubt it. In the end YOU have to play by yourself, and Ikaruga is very much a psychological battle.

Anyway the GC version (with the new "conquest mode") has been out since January, and on the Japanese net-ranking scores by non-japanese weren't any better than what they've have gotten on the DC or Arcade versions (certainly no one got over 30 million, or even near it).

without knowing too much about valgar, i can't really comment on how good he is. But 30mil seems a long way off from my 27.2
My current scores added together AND adding the 7 extra lives without dying only makes 29.5mil...so you see just how hard it is!
Managing to chain every level right through and pass S++ every time (which you would ned to do) is very very tough indeed. If you couple that to the immense pressure you'd be feeling on chapter 5 after such a good run, then if you do get 30 i'll take my hat off to you!!!! i've been using a crappy logic 3 stick without microswitches on the stick so your SC2 stick has to be a good thing.

blueskied, you don't think someone can get 30 million in 2 months? I know I've just started, but I'd like to think that I would be able to accomplish that. I know I've got good gaming skills and the dedication needed. I guess I'll just consider it a personal challenge! :)

good luck, but you certainly won't after only 2 months.

2 months is the time you'd take to casually go through a long book.

ikaruga is insane.
at times, playing ikaruga will make it seem like you need 2 brains to keep track of what's going on.

but after 2 months, be sure to let us know how you're faring.. :)

30 mil in tw months!!! fuck that shit... I've ben ying the GC version since it came out and I can't even stay alive till the end of the game (one continue I mean), I can't even get more than two mil a level... I dont think anyone can get 30 mil after two months of play... it's gonna take me at least a year if I wanna do anything like that, not even kidding...

yeah..0 (well 3.4 according to your sig) to 30 mil in 2 months...oh hell no. not to discourage you or anything but its realistically not gonna happen. beating the game is realistic, but a 30 mil run is a completely different beast. feel free to prove us wrong, good luck.

Heh, did the weirdest thing with Ikaruga today. I started up chapter 1 in Practice mode, then opened up my S++ video replay of chapter 1 on my computer, and to the best of my ability I played through Ch. 1 "synchonized" with the video replay. I only reached a S+ ranking though.

Yeah, I guess 30 million is too much to hope for seeing as hardly anyone has gotten that score. Do you think a top 5 spot on the ranking pages is a realistic goal for 2 months of play?

Probably not. Depends on how good you are though.
