Ikaruga [DC, GC, XBLA, PC]

Thanks for your support DaveSS. I'm just trying to have an optimistic view. I'm not an expert (yet) at Ikaruga, so I really have no idea of how long it takes to get scores of 25-30 million. However, it seems that when you do get that high, you kind of peak and the scores become more stable. Of course, if the Japanese players all come and enter their high scores, then it's another matter entirely and getting in the top 5 would be a lot tougher. And about just talking about it instead of doing it...I'm just killing time between classes on campus. Gotta do something, right?

To add to my previous post, this was all about seeing Blueskied's post (I think) saying he thought it wasn't possible to hit 30 million in a few months. I was just looking to see what a realistic total might be. Sorry if I sounded like someone who had 3 million (at the time) claiming that I'll be the top spot come June or July 31st. I am the type of gamer who can get that high with enough practice, though. The only question is how much practice it'll take and if I'll run out of time before I get that high. At least you're doubts about my ability give me even more motivation to achieve my goal which (although it may be too far-fetched) is still to get a top 5 placement come the contest deadline - if it is July and not June.

Received the Appreciate DVD as a gift recently.

Ok. Wow.

I only watched through Normal, Easy, and Omake... But man. The Normal video [in particular] was mind-boggling. Certain points had me blankly staring at the scree just wondering how on earth one's brain can handle such an intense amount of differing stimuli simultaneously.

Everything the player [forgot his alias for now] does is simply incredible. His control over the ship is unparalleled and his style is rather unique; I never really saw lasers used in such a way. Sickening.

I can't imagine what Hard will look like...

Ugh. The sheer skill presented makes me physically ill when considering how poorly I have progressed in Ikaruga.


30 mill in a couple months? You have a better chance of accidentally misplacing your testicles.

Hell, Click, I don't need a Appreciate disk to marvel at the inadiquacy of my own skill. I've got Guinness Book for that. :(

I am dissapointed with the GC version..

After constant play on some levels, the audio will start to screw up. Sometimes music will start to skip, or most times, sound effects will stop playing (explosions, chain count). Not only that, but going through the menus a lot will cause the game to freeze.

When playing Chapter 1 in progressive scan there is flickering after the first intro, and Chapter 2 is blury as hell.

The explosions for the bosses are all choppy and don't have that dramatic effect the DC version did (they were slow, but it was constant).

And for some reason the ship is off when it blasts off in Chapter 1..in the DC version it blasts off juts as the music hits a high note.

I thought my copy was messed up (even though it had no scratches) but I talked to a lot of other people who were having the same problems.

I've never had any audio problems with my GC Ikaruga, FWIW.

my GC ikaruga seems mostly spot-on, although i haven't tried it in prog.scan mode yet..

i didn't even know the game supported it..

i'll check it out later today.
