You might see the high score as 57300 (or has 573 in it). Then there's the arcade hardware System 573. References like that. Anyone know the story?

See if the 5th 7th and 3rd Hiragana or Katakana symbols would sell out Ko Na Mi or something? ^_^
Ko is the 5th katakana but the others don't match.
I thought the default high score in Gradius 3 was 58300, but I could be wrong.
Score!~ A competley random guess by me almost worked!
"Nana" = 7
"Mitsu" (as in MITSUbishi, etc) = 3
hmm almost works, that is, if you take the first 2 letters of the translations.
Isn't 3 "san?"
You might be right, NGEFreek, look at this...

Unless Burgundy is right about 3 being San....Quote:
"NAna" = 7
"MItsu" (as in MITSUbishi, yoshiMITSU, MITSUrugi, etc) = 3
If only taking random stabs at things on standardized testing would work as well.
I wonder if "57300" appears as one of the dog point values in Radiant Silvergun?
According to NMetatron's FAQ at GameFAQs, many (if not all) of the point values are supposed to reference other shooters. Since RSG is chock full of shooter references, it's a possibility.
Upon closer inspection, I was wrong on Mitsurugi & Yoshimitsu... As their names in Kanji do not contain Chinese letter for 3. But, "Mitsubishi" definitely starts with Chinese letter 3.
ŽO•H = Three Diamonds (like their logo, get it?)
It might seem like a completely random guessing, but it really isn't that unusual among Japanese people to use numbers as their initials... For example, Shiina Hekiru, a semi-popular anime & VG voice actress/singer (I use that term loosely)/DJ uses 417 as her initials.
Shi = another way to pronounce #4
Ichi = 1
Nana = 7
:sweat:
Ah well, back to the drawing boards.
This has to be the best one...
Konami's Japanese helpline phone #:
xxxx-x86-573
Hachi = 8
Roku = 6
HaRo GoNaMi?
(Hello Konami)
:sweat:
LOL awesome!
Japanese is not like every other language...Quote:

How you pronounce things are entirely dependent on situation.
If you are talking purely about it as a number, it's ichi, ni, san.
If you are talking about counting things, it's hitotsu, futatsu, mittsu
If you are talking about counting people, it's hitori, futari, sannin
If you are talking about counting tubular objects, it's ippon, nihon, sanbon
If you are talking about counting sheep, it's ippiki, hihiki, sanbiki
Don't get me started on days of the month like tsuitachi, futsuka, mikka o.o
Anyway, there's no one way to pronounce something in Japanese.
573 is a evil, lesser known number than 666. And it's well know Konami are all devil worshippers. I think it's pretty obvious...
They have time to be devil worshippers and be the best overall 3rd party publisher for 20 years? Wow.
Why be surprised? It's obvious the two go hand-in-hand...Quote:

Yea, the devils help = w00t, we sell a ton of games! go satan!
... and all that jazz. Trust me, I know.
That could explain Silent Hill... :confused:
(runs away only to be enveloped by a thick fog...)
Konami also uses "573" as default initials for the high scores in Drummania. I wonder if "Ko" being the 5th Katakana is the reason for the "5", or if "Go" can also mean "Ko".
Here's a link I found about Japanese counting:

What the hell does that have to do with Kathy Lee Gifford? :wtf:Quote:

Click it and see for yourself. :rolleyes: Although it has a lot of stuff in Polish which I understand not a lick of, there's a Romaji section.
As for Kathie Lee Gifford... UGH! Don't mention her here. :o :bang:
