Thread: The Biden Presidency

  1. Lol ain't no nightmare over. But at least we can actually get some fuckin work done.

The woman who did the pledge was rad. The pledge is pretty simple but it's tough to speak & sign at the same time.

  3. Trump sneaks off like the coward he is and the party that cried fascism for four years just had a flag waving, barbwire guarded, military paraded inauguration in an empty city that would make Kim Jong-un smile.

I don't know if it amounts to the legal definition of collusion, but the sharing of polling data about Midwestern states where Trump later won upset victories, conversations with the Russian ambassador to influence Russia’s response to sanctions imposed by the U.S. government in response to election interference, and communications with Wikileaks after it had received emails stolen by Russia don't sound like clean politics. Our entire intelligence apparatus and both the House and Senate-led committees agreed.
In his letter to Congress, Barr summarizes the Mueller investigation as looking at two areas: Interference by Russia in the 2016 presidential election and obstruction of justice.

The special counsel found that Russia did interfere with the election, but “did not find that the Trump campaign, or anyone associated with it, conspired or coordinated with the Russian government in these efforts, despite multiple efforts from Russian-affiliated individuals to assist the Trump campaign.

I don't dispute that Russia, and other governments, interfered in our election. I don't think Trump, or his campaign, conspired with them and we spent, what, three years hearing about this and hearing house reps and Senators blatantly lying about "evidence" that didn't exist? My point here isn't to defend Trump, it's that all of this over the top bullshit led us to where we are now. Tens of millions of people feel disenfranchised and betrayed by the media and by Congress and that, at least partially, led to the events of January 6th.

Eh, that's kinda what I meant. The country's still fucked and Biden or anyone else is going to need a literal magic wand to fix things. But at least Trump's not there either doing absolutely nothing and/or making shit worse.

I'm usually the first person to shit on Trump, but this is 100% correct. The only thing Mueller didn't clear Trump of was obstruction, which he absolutely blatantly engaged in throughout Mueller's entire investigation.

I trust what Barr says as I far as I can throw that fat fuck. Didn't he basically call a press conference to dismiss the report before anyone even saw it?

While Mueller was unable to establish a conspiracy between members of the Trump campaign and the Russians involved in this activity, he made it clear that “[a] statement that the investigation did not establish particular facts does not mean there was no evidence of those facts.” In fact, Mueller also wrote that the “investigation established that the Russian government perceived it would benefit from a Trump presidency and worked to secure that outcome, and that the Campaign expected it would benefit electorally from information stolen and released through Russian efforts.”
Add that to when Trump said he would take help in an election from a foreign country and like I said, it gives reason to be suspicious.

I don't think the press or the media went any more over the top than they ever have. Fox News went batshit over a tan suit, and Republicans impeached Clinton for lying about a blowjob. They seize the opportunities when they seem them. Trump just gave waaaay more opportunities than most.

If anyone feels betrayed, it should be for listening to the president, who was the single largest source of disinformation these past 4 years. All the shit about COVID just going away, anyone who didn't agree with him being a radical communist/socialist, and all the Q'Anon bullshit - that's why people should feel betrayed and disenfranchised. None of that bullshit was true, and now those people don't know who to blame for it.

It's sad to see that even as some of them are starting to wake up to the fact that they were tricked they're having trouble processing the enormity of that deception.

Like they'll say things like "It turns out Q was never real and we were all misled and now a pedophile satanist is president and there's nothing we can do," like sloooow down, buddy let's start from the top with "ALL of the QAnon shit was made up," not just the Season Finale.

No question about that - I do feel, however, that there was much more willful deception of what was actually said through, em, "creative" editing and an extreme dislike for the guy. I don't like him either but I at least try to honest in my analysis of the guy.

Can't argue that. I hope he remains out of politics forever.
