Yeah, it's too Shonen for that. It's still REALLY dire and depressing like the Berserk Manga, but it requires a bit more neurosis to get there.

Berserk has a whole arc about Guts helping a naked fairy dude, and its creator is currently knee-deep in IdolMaster merchandise for years and years to bother even making more. Nothing's perfect.
It's kind of the same doofy SO SERIOUS tone as High School of the Dead minus the ridiculous anatomical exaggerations. Or maybe those are the bad guys. Hard to say.
