Heaven forbid we are optimisitc about games instead of sitting around a message board complaining and bitching all the time!

And heaven forbid I expect that the Final Fantasy games would be better than they are. If Square can do some decent things when they put aside that brandname, then I'm all for them killing the series. I'm all for the progression of the genre, but if Square and Enix insist on pushing 15 year old engines on the public, so as to make the public tolerant of it as long as the game is pretty, then something needs to change.

I'm fed up with wannabe gamers who enjoy these turds. If you buy crap, they're going to keep making it.

On the other hand, if they can manage to churn out a good game, I'll be the first to give praise.

IMHO FFIV is the greatest RPG ever nothing else holds a candle to it and FFX was pretty damn good

but i bet you didnt even play it just blew it off cause it was FF and its the cool thing to hate right now in the "hardcore" scene

Get over yourself dude. You were telling us what to like. "I'd rather you bow down to games worth caring about," you said. Your talk of expectations for the games is one thing. Please, wax poetic on why you feel that Square and Enix need to change things. I'm interested in that.

But when you try to prove the superiority of games you care about, without really mentioning them, well... What point were you trying to make again?

No, it didn't. He replied with sarcasm, trying to show that I'm just a self-professed gamer.

I was trying to say that I'm not hating FF just because other "hardcore people" do it... but rather based on what I've played, which is most of the games, and what I've analyzed while playing them.

Nope, but I think gamers who have played the full spectrum of RPGs will see that there is something inherently wrong with the Final Fantasy engine. The games not only have an outdated engine, but the new ones have even more problems than the previous ones.

And now you miss the point of my post. Those so called hardcore gamers who automatically hate all FFs, FPS, sports games, hate everything the mainstream likes are even bigger losers than the mainstream.

For the record, my opinion is that FFIV was ok for its time, but it doesn't stand up against today's RPGs. I think nostalgia has a huge hold on people for that. FFX, while it does quite a few things right by adopting a more Grandia-ish turn system, and having the whole sphere board customization, which is an incredible idea... still is limited by the standards the first Final Fantasy, and 7... have set in place. FFX could have been great, I think, if they didn't make it a "Final Fantasy", which forced it to fit a previously cast mold.

If you don't play the games and come to the same conclusions as me, I simply don't care about your opinion. How's that? I don't side with everyone who hates Final Fantasy. I side simply with those who have experienced the same observations and criticisms I have, whether it be FF, Doom or Tony Hawk Pro Skater.
