There's a place here that's selling IBM P260's (19 in. FS) for about 160. That's pretty good.

Viewsonics and NECs are my favorites in LCDs, and Sonys and NECs are my favorites in CRTs.
You may want to look at a 19" CRT if you're into gaming, they're getting dirt cheap nowadays.

I have a samsung SyncMaster 171v. Weighs about 13 pounds, 17" viewable, gorgeous screen. When you first get it, it takes some messing around to get it the way you like it.
Best Buy is now selling it for $600.
I have a 17" Sony Trinitron Multiscan 200ES that I am quite happy with. I bought it almost four years ago, and I will not be upgrading it when I get my new PC.
By the way, as far as monitors go, these things I know (i think correct me if I am wrong).
Sony CRTs use texas instrument guns. So, therefore, a TI monitor could be of comparable quality at a lower price.

I just got a new 19" Envision Flatscreen for like 200$ at CompUSA. Nothing too fancy, but it seems solid enough. The only downside, the thing is so deep I had to rearrange my entire bedroom to fit the damn thing in.

flat screens are nice but LCD is the way to go, or unless you got money for plasma or that 3D one that was around a long time ago, don't know where it is though on the web.
