1. Review: Turok: Evolution (Xbox, Gamecube)

Turok: Evolution takes fans back to the orgins of the Turok lineage. In a game loaded with non-stop action, this is without a doubt one of the best installments to date. Step into the world of Tal'Set as he thrust into a "holy mission". Our editors take a look at the Xbox and Gamecube editions (one of which feels didn't milk his cow...)

What's that? Read on eager readers for the scoop!

2. They both link to the Xbox review.

Here are my gripes with the review:

It doesn't account for the fact that there is no way to save mid-game, and that is never good.

Doesn't really take into account that this game is IMPOSSIBLE to beat the first time through because random events happen that kill the character, causing you to remember the events and what triggers them to survive. Repeat ad nauseum. Each time starting from the beginning of the level, because of no save feature except between levels.

Also of note is the horrible control during the flying sequences.

Multiplayer is just not very well implemented, and gives me no joy.

I would rate this one a C or a C+, but not a B+.

Thats me anyway.

3. aye, both links go to the XBox review

The review does not mention this because I don't believe it's a problem. This is a console FPS, not a PC FPS. The PC convention of saving wherever and whenever you want does not fit in the console world. Yeah, you may have to repeat some levels several times. All that means is that you actually have to be good to advance. Why is it a crime to only reward a skillful player? Besides, no level is large enough that starting it over again is such a monumental task.

I completely disagree.

There are very few levels where these types of cheap kill events happen. Yes, the first time you get pummeled by a bunch of rocks falling from a cliff you have no chance. That said, these events are few and far between and hardly serve as a detriment to the game.

Even late in the game I was able to complete many levels on my first attempt. Some levels took many tries, but that has more to do with the relentless onslaught of enemies than cheap kills.

Also of note is the horrible control during the flying sequences.
I mentioned that -
"The first flying encounter is a nearly unplayable mess that is sure to immediately turn away many players. Control and targeting clearly needed more work, and the result is a frustrating experience."

To each their own
I found it to be a fun fast-paced action game that really put me to the test at times. I stand by my B+ score.

6. Master is just um...special
